Help Setup Kronos/Audio Interface midi input

Post by blackmamba »

Hello,
I have a korg kronos that I use with my audio interface focusrite forte (double jack connection), the forte itself connected via USB to my computer.

The issue is that with this setup I have the feeling that cubase doesn't detect the kronos as a Midi keyboard. (maybe because there is the audio interface between the computer and the kronos).

DO you have any idea how I could use my kronos as an input midi, with my audio interface?

Cheers,

The simplest way is to use the usb midi/usb connection from the Kronos into the computer and keep the forte for audio,as is.
Cubase will detect the keyboard as a midi instrument.

With an iMac,it won't always need a Korg driver, although Korg do recommend using their own(can be downloaded from their site).
I think you may need to use a driver for a pc though….

However,be aware that some new iMacs and the Kronos usb link, audio especially, can present problems, which are yet to be resolved.
Older iMacs should work ok.

Try either one for audio recording comparison, then use the better one that suits you.
You can use both usb audio routings if you really want to,but you will need to careful with the settings etc.

An alternative is to get a midi to usb interface to connect the Kronos to a computer using the 5pin din connections from the Kronos etc.

Best Wishes.
