Using sliders as drawbars in Combination Mode

Post by musicbysterling »

I want to set up a Combination in which the sliders only control a CX3 instrument and not have any control over any other instrument in the combination. I'm having difficulty figuring this out. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I think you should do the following:
- Select the Play tab
- Select Control Surface tab
- Select at the left the TONE ADJ. tab
- Select at the top right the Timbre where you want to disable the sliders
- Set for each slider the setting to Off.
- Do this for each Timbre that should not respond.

It's much simpler than the post above would imply.

Tone Adjust only controls one Timbre at a time, and the selected Timbre is saved with the Combination. Simply set the Control Surface to Tone Adjust, select the Timbre that you want to control (you can use either the screen or a hardware shortcut; see the manuals for details), and save the Combination.

Is there a way to change which Timbre the Tone Adjust sliders control on the fly?

I'd like to have to different B3's in a Combi and control the drawbars for one of them, press a button, and then the sliders control the drawbars of the other B3.

Possible?

Thanks!

Not with one button. You'll have to change the selected timbre, which requires a few more presses.

You could possibly set the timbres up next to each other, e.g. 1/2, then when you open the combi, jump to the control surface page and select the timbre selection on the right. Then you would only need to click ones to switch back and forth. Closest I can think of.

You could point two different Set List slots to the same Combi saving a different timbre as the selected one.

I thought of that too, the only issue is you'll be "resetting" each sound upon switching, plus you couldn't have any KARMA/DT/arps running. If you can live with those limitations it's a great solution.
