Has the Wavedrum Global been discontinued already?

Post by genshi »

I've been trying to find the Wavedrum Global Edition in stores here in the U.S., but Guitar Center claims it has been discontinued and they can't get it in. Is this true? Is there a new version on the horizon? I though the Global Edition was just released not too long ago? I really was hoping to get one [new] to incorporate into my film score work...

If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

I saw that they had it, though I try to avoid Sweetwater because I was screwed over by them once, but I may give them a second chance...

Still doesn't explain why no one else has the Wavedrum Global, and why Guitar Center (arguably the largest U.S. retailer of music equipment) doesn't even have an item number for it so they can check the status of whether it's sold out, discontinued, new model coming, etc. They just straight up claim it doesn't exist! (and they are equally baffled by this, as they know that they must have had it at one time.)

Just wondering why... any insight greatly appreciated.

guitar center and musician's friend are terrible, and they do not know anything about most products...most of the time when you ask a question, they just google an answer and pass it off like they knew it. My guess is since it is not in their system, they simply say it doesn't exist anymore. I would not expect a quality answer from them in any case!

for example, I have to explain to them the difference between the KO1, KPRO, KPRO+, KP3 and Kaoss Quad on a dozen locations...a few folks even told me that many of those products do not exist in the US, only in Japan....dumbasses...

Amazon finally did have a couple in stock that they "ship and sells from Amazon" (as opposed to coming from Japan like their site stated a few months ago) so I ordered, and my new Wavedrum Global Edition will be arriving this Tuesday!

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with Sweetwater. I have only had good dealings with them.

It was probably just an anomaly the one time I dealt with them.

In any case, now that I finally have the Wavedrum, I'm loving it! Here's my first quick test of it -

I just love how expressive it can be... :D

bought mine on eBay, no problems

Bought mine a couple of weeks ago from Global Topstore on eBay directly from Japan. They included shipping, the Korg gig bag and Wave Drum stand for less than $450 USD. Delivery time was about 10 days. I recommend this seller on eBay.

I had pre ordered the Wavedrum Oriental from Sweetwater when it was announced, but it was back ordered for almost 7 months before I got it. After I got it, I received a call from a Sweetwater salesperson asking if I was happy with it? He would call every 4-6 months to see how I was doing. That is going above and beyond service.
