Thanks for the info. The good news is that both Translator and Awave claim now to convert from Kurzweil KRZ formats to PCG Kronos. Will test that.

As for the price, I see on their website its 149.95 USD, so 50 USD more expensive than Awave

I see there is no trial version available (with conversion), as Awave has. Did I miss something there? Will try the free version, but the website says in there conversion is not available

Thanks for the great find AdDeRoo. I almost bought the full version for almost double that but I hesitated to pull the trigger.

Just tested Awave (the demo version) converting Kurzweil KRZ samples (from the Ultimate Guitars CDRom) to Kronos PCG and KSC. I can confirm this works well. I converted several individual programs and their samples from KRZ to Kronos PCG. It's difficult to see which program settings are actually converted from the KRZ to PCG, but in any case OSC1 and OSC2 and their pan-settings are taken. Effects and filter settings seem not to be converted, and will need some further tweaking, but the basic sounds are converted ok.

Hi Sharp, just go to www.chickensys.com/translator/userupdates BTW I did beta-test Kronos for Awave. Kurzweil to Kronos does work. One thing to keep in mind is that Kurzweil programs can reference both ROM and RAM samples so if you try translating KRZ programs they will not sound the same for that reason.

Thanks for that.

I'll have to dig through my old files for my Unkock and KeyCode. It's been a VERY long time since I used Translator. Gave up on it back in the old Triton days.

Found my codes and downloaded the latest version but it seems this download is only an update patch.

Guess I now have to find the original CD. ...lol... that will be fun.

Just updated to the latest version of Translator and straight away I've problems.

Screen Capture video HERE.

Within seconds it stops responding. About 1min 7 seconds into the video it comes alive again, converts a few files and then completely crashes.

During this time it also generates folders on my desktop with no files in them, even though I've specifically set the destination folder to C:\Temp.

Same PC, same disk and Awave Studio batch converts the entire disks effortlessly to KRONOS format.

Alienware 18 Laptop
Win 8.1
8 Core i7 4GHz
32GB RAM
256 SSD + 1 TB HDD
6GB Dual Video
AKAI EIE Pro Audio Interface

Sharp, I tried the same Akai Files on my Macbook 2008 Snow Leopard and Translator translated them all without crashing. I copied the files to an external drive before translating. I'll check out how well the sounds came out later when I get a chance to.

lol... Yeah, I guess.

Actually, I may have some good use for it. Doing lots of exploring and I'm finding a few things I may use. The Auto Sampler looks very interesting too. Seems to be like what Extreme Sample Converter can do with Hardware over midi, but has the ability to go to the next program on it's own.

Looks interesting.

How did you copy the same AKAI files to an external drive before converting them ?

I would have thought that was impossible as AKAI disks are not even directly readable by Windows or a MAC. You would have to convert the data direct from the disk. Either that or your ripping ISO's ?

What I did some time ago was I used Translator to translate those AKAI files to the same format on my computer and made a DVD backup of them. I did this with my Kurzweil CD ROM libraries so I could use them in the future and also so I would not have to deal with SCSI drives!

Very interesting. Just tried that and that it still doesn't work.

I had no problem converting the AKAI S1000 CD to S1000 files I could store locally on my PC, but soon as you try to convert those AKAI files off my local hard disk into KRONOS files, translator failed exactly as it did in the video.

Thought I could try covering the S1000 files to SF2, and then SF2 to KRONOS, but nope. Crashed.
