Volca Beats driving microbrute
Does anybody know the arcane settings of the Micro's connection software to get the Brute to *follow* the Volca's sync *out* via the brute's gate *in*..
I have tried numerous combinations and all i get is a choppy beat from the brute echoing the sync pulse of the Volca.
Have set the step on switch to Gate -
The Step dial to 8
The Sync dial to Ext...
I am not near the two now - but thinking back - I had the VCA on the brute's front panel switched to gate and not Env -- would that be the problem there?

Thanks for getting back to me - never saw this until this morning.
I found settings last night from PanzerLyu on Youtube and used them -
Step On = Gate
Sync = Auto
Step 1/4.
They worked!
But I did have to change that front panel switch to Envelope.
Have been using my zoom R8 to send a pulse to the Beats and Bass - was hoping I could do same with Microbrute and sync the brute to the R8's drums.
The Brute doesn't recognise the signal - but if I go thru the sync in/out of the Beats or Bass first , it's all good.
Thanks again.

Hi, I made a quick video to demonstrate the issues with CV gate from the Beats, and also included a view of the settings for the MicroBrute. Cheers!

yeah thats it!
I am sure other people would be very appreciative in future.
I am using it lots in this combo and enjoy using my R8 to start/stop the beats/brute...
that way can be sure they start at exactly the same time ... but am guessing a ipod or mp3 player could be set up to do the same.
cheers

That's interesting. On mine I was picking up sync pulses from the Volca Beats even when it wasn't playing. The flashing tempo knob is a giveaway.1_inch_punch wrote:I am using it lots in this combo and enjoy using my R8 to start/stop the beats/brute...

go to 1/8 instead of 1/4 from volca beats?
I have gotten the volca beats to drive the microbrute, however I am unable to have the microbrute sequencer double to 1/8 or 1/16 or 1/32. I am left with only slow quarter note sequencing and am trying to figure out how to at least double the sequencer timing to go twice as fast without simply using half the number of steps on the volca beats.
I assumed changing the step counter in the connection software would double it like it does when there isn't something driving the microbrute, but it seems that when it is connected that the step counter is simply bypassed and it doesn't make a difference regardless. Anyone else seeing this?

Haven't tried that yet, will try to use those settings over the weekend and get back to you. I have heard similar things, I believe it is because the Volca throws out 8ths and not 16th pulses.
As an aside, one thing I don't like about this is that you end up having to keep going into the micro and mini's Connection Software to change these settings...I've been asking Arturia to implement the Connection Software for iOS. That would be dope to change it without connecting to a pc/mac/laptop.
