New SV-1 73 black - Damper/sustain pedal problems

Post by gened »

Just got a black SV-1 73. The sustain pedal/unit is not working properly out of the box.

When I depress the sustain pedal, the pedal does sustain but volume lowers a lot initially, then swells to normal volume and then takes a second to stop sustaining after the pedal is released. The volume goes back to a low level after the sustain dies out. The only way to restore the sound to the proper volume is to switch presets.

I have tried the calibration routine in the manual but the keyboard automatically exits the calibration mode when the pedal is released rather than waiting for me to press the pedal button again. The #1 preset light does not light as described in the manual either but rather #1, 2 & 3 all at the same time.

I have tried 2 other sustain pedals that I know to work in other keyboards with similar results.

The same behavior is exhibited on all three pedal inputs.

I have performed a factory reset. OS is 1.2

Defective unit or is there something else I can try?

Thanks,

Gene

Sounds like your pedals may be plugged into the wrong jacks?

Sustain is into Damper? Check!
I have gear - I think.

I just checked,

Yes - it's still there.

He said he'd tried all three inputs. Sounds buggy to me. (I bought my SV1 when they first became available -- have they changed the pedal? Mine has a cutout for the nice stand-crossbar they put on the SP250 that keeps the pedal from creeping. No such crossbar on the custom SV1 stand, though.)

This is old, but here's your answer! I was having the same problem and found the answer in the user's manual:

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/90163/ ... ml?page=45

Works on my SV-1 with several different types of pedals.
