Korg did it again. Cheap PCBs and shoddy soldering. The LEDs 9-12 also went out on me, and I don't even move the sucker around much. I've opened it up, and did find a "14" transistor about to break off, near the leds. Went ahead and soldered it in place, but problem still exists.

Now waiting on Korg to respond to my email.

MiniKP2, Monotron Delay, and now the Volca Beats have fell victim to bad solder points. STEP YOUR QUALITY UP KORG!!!

The problem with the LEDS 9,10,11 and 12 is due to a poorly soldered transistor.
Vibrations or the tiniest bump can cause it to desolder itself and that's when it starts to fail.
If you want to attempt to fix it, be careful when you open the unit, it might be already loose inside and you can easily loose it as it is really small.
Solder it back and that should do it.
The transistor label is DT317 located right next to one o the black screws below the "White noise" label.

carlostau is exactly right. I just performed the resoldering of DT317 and the issue was resolved.

Hey guys - thank you so much for this. I had the same issue with LEDs 9-12 and have fixed it.

Now I have a different issue which I think/hope might be a similarly quick and easy fix, I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction....

The DECAY knob on the KICK has stopped changing the decay length. Click works as expected and I think the PITCH is doing nothing or next to nothing too, it seems to make the kick slightly higher pitched and perhaps slightly louder. I opened it and had a look and could see a couple of transistors that I could try resoldering....

Any ideas?

are you listening on a stereo or headphoneswhenyou adjust the decay?

even tho i have floor speakers with 12" subs i cant hear the lows as well as on the headphones, and i notice the difference in decey much more that way

You can hear the problem through the internal speaker, headphones or plugged in, the decay change used to be noticeable. I compared it to a friend's volca beats and it's definitely a problem, though it doesn't make the Volca unusable. I had the problem mentioned in the title of this thread and just resoldered an SMD part and it was working again, I think it's a similar thing, maybe a component that comes after those two pots coming loose..... anyone know which might be the most likely contender?
