Low Sound (SEQUENCER TO WAV)

Post by smaugxxx »

First of all good holidays and thank you to join us here, this is my first message, I am from France.

I had before 2 triton Korg and I had no problem to have the same sound and level when I would to create a Wav file and listen to the computer.

My question when I sample my song from sequencer, and create the file, The Wav is low, I use the cursor of the 0Db and up the level of my 16 track, but is always low or sizzle if I use level.

I have no sound card, just the Realtek High Definition Audio, maybe this is the problem? The "Loudness Equalization" is not check on.

Merry Christmas to all !!!

How do you create the WAV file. Are you recording into your computer or doing everything on the Kronos?

On the GLOBAL page of the Kronos, try changing these settings for different results:

Bit Depth ("HDR audio track" or "Sample to Disk")
16 bit or 24 bit

Internal headroom
Standard, +12dB, +24dB, +36dB, +48dB

Thanks, but I create already on 24 Bit, its strange because I try to see the difference between the standard & + 48Db.

I sample 2 songs with the less and high and its the same, both !!! they is no change with this Bit Depth !
I write the global setting after to use

and always the same volume

Let me ask a few questions to try to understand your exact situation:

1) when you play the song/sequence from the Kronos, is it the volume good through the headphones directly plugged into the Kronos?

2) how is the sound from Kronos going into your computer?

3) when you listen on the computer, is the volume from the Kronos good? Play different programs from the Kronos and evaluate if the sound level is good.

4) if all the sound levels are good before you record, then how is the sound after you record on the computer?

These questions are trying to find out exactly the path of the sound from Kronos to computer.

Thanks Psionic311

1) The volume is very good on Kronos, with Fx, I listen with an headphone.
No problem, perfect !!

2) I use 100 % of the volume for exemple with winamp, I compare the other mp3 or wav I have on my computer, the song is maybe 30 or 40 % low.

3) I think the Kronos use a compressor and all is like that, I will sample a combi to see!

4) In fact the sound is good, but I want to have the same volume on my headphone after the record on my computer like the song directly to the Kronos

I use now Vlc player because I can listen 50 % more of volume, but its not normal !!

My sound card is bad for the Kronos, the only solution is to buy a new sound card, what kind of sound card you have?

This is the problem;
We sequence a song on K.
Bounce all tracks to wav.
Copy/paste the wav song on the computer, but the volum is low! Its not satisfying! We have to turn up the speaker's volum to hear better sound!

I dont think it has anything to do with computers sound card, since everything is being done on the K. seq. Mode!
I have the same issue.....

Put your wav file in any audio editor and "normalize" it.

We normalise already into the kronos with the cursor DB to erase clip.
Sound card will give maybe much level to up the volume, because I know just VLC who give 200 % of volume.

I love my Kronos but with his big price, Korg invented full function that serves to nothing and create the most important, a wav with low sound lol

Maybe we must to buy another item to up the level & connect to the Kronos

You could use a mastering limiter to push the volume before sampling your WAV.
It's normal for "home made music" to sound softer than professionally released music by the way. This is the result of a decades long loudness war where everyone has tried to put the highest volume in their music within the digital domain. While there are some promising trends in the other direction right now, most music you buy, download or stream will still be produced to maximize loudness.

Thanks SanderXpander, the mastering limiter is 3000 dollars like the Kronos? :) Joking, I can connect to the Kronos ?

Kronos dont have inside a mastering limiter?
