KRONOS - AFRICA (TOTO) - [COVER]

Post by matheus_stoll »

Hi Guys, i made a video showing a cover of AFRICA - TOTO. In this video i use the Karma Scenes to switch de sounds.

Have two combis in this cover. One is for the verse, chorus... And other is for solo. In the solo, i put the two voice (i made this in pitch, normally).

Some people, asked me about the video are fake. With this, i made other video showing the combis without the music.

Thanks, have a good day!!

Nice. I might have doubled the octave of the brass in the left hand so it could be played with a shorter range, leaving room for the 2nd verse lead sound at the bottom of the keyboard. Then you don't have to use the onscreen pads for the chords. Or just play them with left hand with lead sound at the top.

Great!
What is the pitch of the second (in the original: the left hand part) solo voice compared to the first? And how did you manage to differentiate between minor/major thirds and fouths as they appear in the solo, if I remember correctly?

We did a tutorial on Kronoscopie a while back on how to use the nanopad to play Africa.

The nanopad video is this:

Thanks for the comments guys. In the solo, i use 6 flutes and 7 marimbas. Why? I split and pitch in each key the note correctly.

Forgive me, I don't understand what you mean.
I've had my KX88 since May and I feel like I've only scratched the surface.
I understand that you can layer a sound and adjust its pitch - but how do you do that for every key individually? In concrete terms (the Africa solo): It starts with a d sharp in the right hand and a b in the left hand (which is pitch of -4 (a major third)) and continues with a c sharp in the right hand and a g sharp in the left hand, however, that is -5, a fourth. So the difference in pitch is not constant throughout the song. How do you do that?

Okay, I think what he means is that he has 6 flutes and 7 marimbas... but he has them assigned only to certain sections of the keyboard.

So he might have Marimba 1 and Flute 1 assigned to G5 and G#5. (Because of the melody he's playing, those notes match being a 3rd let's say) But then when you get to A5 and A#5 it needs to now be a fourth. So, he instead has Marimba 2 and Flute 2 set up a 4th instead of a 3rd like the first ones. That's likely why he has so many layers - Some are tuned up a 4th, some a 3rd, but all depending on the location of the melody notes.

Soo... the solution here is to make several very small zones, some tuned up a 4th, some a 3rd.

I hope that makes sense :)
