Need some tips trying to recreate a sound

Post by censustaker »

I'm trying to emulate the bass sound from this track:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsQnzFWpmqM

The bass synth comes in after a few seconds. Any tips? I haven't been able to get anywhere close, yet and I suspect i'm using the wrong-tool-for-the-wrong-job (i believe this was recorded on an odyssey originally)

You can start with both oscillators set to Sawtooth on the same octave (16'), with a light detune between them. LPF Filter Cutoff reduced to 4 or 5 and Peak around 7 or 8, modulated by EG2 (fast attack, medium decay, low sustain, fast release).
Korg MS-20 Kit, Korg MS-20 mini, Korg KingKorg, Korg Volca Series (Beats, Bass, Keys), Korg Kronos 61, Korg X50, Korg Triton Extreme 76 (96MB RAM, MOSS), Korg MS2000B, Korg monotron series (classic, duo, delay), Korg monotribe, Kawai K5000W, Nord Stage 88, Nord Electro 2, Nord Modular G2X, Nord Lead 3, Novation X-Station, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air

You'll be looking for reverb and delay to add also.

Fast attack on filter, no sustain and decay set around the 3 mark I think I'd use the EG negative out to achieve it

Defo saw waves as the person above said

I'll have a pop at it and see
Live fast, ride fast
