Hi Everybody,
I have Korg Volca Keys > M-Audio Midisport 2x2 > Logic Pro.
At the moment i can set it up to play and record in an audio track on Logic but for some reason it picks up external feedback/noises and i cant figure out why this happens. Any help on this configuration would be great.
What i also wanted to ask was how i can set it up so that rather than being an audio track it's a midi track instead but i cant get my head around the configuration. Please can you help with this?
If you need any more info on my current configuration, please ask.
Cheers!

Can't help with the noise but on setting up the track you should be able to use the external instrument plug in and then choose the midi port that is feeding your Volca. This should allow audio and midi on the same track.Solus wrote:Hi Everybody,

The Keys is the noisiest Volca and often when I monitor (any instrument) at a high level I can hear noises that sound "bad" but once in use are covered by the music and don't really matter. It might be your picking up on low level noise.I often get a better percieved signal through a mixer preamp compared to an audio interface pre, and this may be down to what level I am monitoring as described above (plus maybe extra computer noise).
Thanks
Cheers for your help. I also got this reply from Dan @ M-Audio on a forum i posted the same question in which looks useful too - May help others, read on below. Going to be trying what you suggested + this. Thanks again, Solus.
- Connect one of the MIDI Outputs of the MIDISPORT to the MIDI In on the Volca with a 5-pin MIDI cable.
Add an "External MIDI" track in Logic and, in the channel strip view on the left side, select the MIDISPORT for the port (either Port A or B, depending on which you connected it to).
That's basically it. Arm that External MIDI track and any MIDI on that track or coming into Logic in realtime will head out to the Volca.
If you wanted to record the audio from the Volca, connect the audio output of the Volca into your computer sound card or audio interface and create an audio track in Logic to record the audio output. That's it.

Using the external instrument plug in means you can work with just one track that is doing both midi and audio. This, to me, is easier than using the external midi track option.Solus wrote:Cheers for your help. Re: Thanks
Hi there I have just purchased the Keys n Bass so am in the process of hooking up to Logic Pro X and wasnt quite sure what you meant by "external instrument plug in" Did you simply mean when you create an audio track (the one thats shown with two guitars)? If this is what you mean I have done this but see no midi data being recorded. It would be very helpful if you could enlarge on what I quoted from your post, sorry if this sounds silly Im a noob to logic & of course the Volcas!Frenzies wrote:Using the external instrument plug in means you can work with just one track that is doing both midi and audio. Re: Thanks
Volcas have just one MIDI-in and no MIDI-out port. That means they can only receive and play MIDI notes, they can't send them out. If MIDI-out is crucial for you google for "Volca MIDI-out mod".MTLM wrote: Hi there I have just purchased the Keys n Bass so am in the process of hooking up to Logic Pro X and wasnt quite sure what you meant by "external instrument plug in" Did you simply mean when you create an audio track (the one thats shown with two guitars)?
