Rename/delete .e2ev files on sd card

Post by atb1983 »

I would try this myself but I am temporarily without access to an SD card reader...

If I access the .e2ev files on my sd card using my laptop, if I rename a file on there and then throw the SD card back in, will it break things?

I did not see a built in way to rename files on the electribe itself, so I was wondering if I could do it this way and give them meaningful names vs. remembering which one each is by number...

Follow-up questions -

Can you also add subfolders under the 'electribe' folder?

Any restrictions or caveats on file names - characters that the e2 won't be able to read?

Thanks!

Nope, since pattern name is encoded in the file structure anyway. I do believe max length for the actual filename is 16 char + .e2pat extension, though.

Yes, you can organize the SD-Card content at will.

Not sure, standard 7bit ASCII table characters should be safe.

Speaking of folders and files, my tribe can only read 100 *.e2pat files per folder. Not an issue at all since you can just make another folder, but would be interesting to know where this limit comes from tho
