Very curious to know if any else out there uses an all volca or volca heavy live setup,
My current rig is using:
4 x Volca Keys
4x Volca Samples
but have also been considering expanding the rig to:
6x Volca Samples
6 x Volca Keys
2x Volca Bass
2x Volca beats
There's lots of neat tricks to be had with the bigger setup, that would be really cheeky and unique
Thought the 16 Volca keys video Korg put up by SETH was interesting ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqBDw_iSPuY ) , the rig looks amazing and its great to watch an artist(s) at work with it. I feel there's a killer sound to be made from 48 oscillators, but with a mix of all the Volcas in the series I reckon pretty much any sound/ genre can be made with that set up.
Would be great to tour/gig with aswell as your complete rig is light, easily replacable if anything goes wrong or is broken, all battery powered so at gigs you aren't worried about power cords, and can easily fit in a suitcase, it completely flexible musically aswell. getting a decent live misdown is possible as everything has a volume knob.
Anyone have any objections, downfalls i'm missing, personal experience or added tricks and ideas?
All i can personally see as a problem is the sample rate for the Volcas that maybe noticable on big sound systems
and also the amount of deep low frequency action. although layering the beats kicks with each other and sub samples in the samples could provide that i reckon.
Anyone also know how reliable the midi clock is when syncing up a s**t load of these things?
