I had the same issue with some international IP's repeatedly crawling my local law enforcement web sites. Finally had to block the IPs ... Made a significant improvement. I really don't mind them looking at the sites as we have no confidential data on them, but when they bog down the site with multiple spiders at the same time you have to take measures.Sharp wrote:It's going to vary somewhat based on the number of users currently online and what they are doing at any given movement in time. There's also from time to time robots scanning the entire database. IP's from China for example seem to rip though the forum content.
Also, midnight GMT every night, there's a full database backup that will cause everything to stop dead for about 3 minutes while the backup runs.
Will still keep an eye on things though. I need some time on the forum myself to gauge things. My workload is totally mental right now and I've not even replied to any other thread in the last few days than this one so bear with me.
