I have an expression foot pedal set to "foot pedal (CC#04)" in Global. I use it to control the volume on drawbar organ patches. I would like to be able to control the volume of a strings patch layered on top of an EP in a combination. I can't seem to figure out how. What do I need to do? I am hoping there is something obvious that I am missing.
Cheers guys

Here's how I do it. In Global Mode set the pedal to Expression, CC#11. In a Combi, make sure all MIDI channels are set to Gch. In the MIDI filters page uncheck any box that you DO NOT want to have affected by the expression pedal, such as a piano. Now you can fade in and out the other timbres at will. I do it all the time. Works great. Consult the manuals for specifics.

That's a good trick. However, is there a way that I can use the pedal for volume on this combination only and use it for something diffferent on other sounds? I am just wondering because you have to set up the control for the pedal in global mode.
Korg Kronos X 88, Arturia Keylab 61, Roland V-Synth, Yamaha MM8, iPad Air 2 (various apps including e.g. Animoog) Alesis Vortex Wireless Keytar, MacBook Pro late 2016 15'' (Logic Pro X, MainStage 3Ableton Live 9 Suite, various plug-ins including e.g. Omnisphere)
Yes, I have heard of that and I believe it involves CC#4 and then using that as a mod source for expression. Haven't tried it, but it has been talked about in these forums. The OP could search that. I don't mind using CC#11 in Global Mode. That is all I use it for. I do enough dancing on stage as it is!
