kronos x vs Kronos 2

I have googled it a few time, but could not get the exact difference between kronos X vs Kronos 2. Could anyone help me out, if htere are any significant difference between these 2?

There are NO significant differences between
Kronos upgraded, Kronos X and Kronos 2.
Some aesthetic and some minor internal hardware differences,
they sound the same.

Kronos 2 has Berlin Piano (EXs17),
EXs18 and KRS-07;
these expansion are included in the
"New Kronos Sound Pack",
available at 249$ in the kronos shop
for Kronos (upgraded) and KronosX.

As far as I know, the first one sounds the same too. It just doesn't have as much Ram or hard drive space. I could be wrong though.

Could anyone suggest what is the difference in RAM between these two boards? Will this reduced RAM size brings down the sampling capacity on kronos X in any way?

The amount RAM in the Kronos X and the and Kronos 2 are the same.

The original Kronos had less RAM but was easily upgraded.

There IS one noteworthy difference between the old and new Kronos and my primary justification for keeping it (after my stolen Kronos was recovered) as a gigging player:

The Screen, Sliders, and whole interface is about an inch CLOSER to the keybed. What does that mean? It means if I have two boards on a stand and the Kronos is the lower, I don't have to pull it out as far to read or access them. Overall, the new Kronos is not quite as deep. Oddly it weighs about 2 lbs more. More heavy duty? Who knows.

Other than that, the type face screen printed on the board is more legible, the buttons are of higher quality and have a more solid "click", and the new sounds built in are nice. Don't forget the KaPro EXs19 is also FOC for new Kronos owners in addition to the Berlin and sound pack.

I was kronosX 88 user. I love the new keybed. They say it is the same of Kx but I say yes but the match with the chassis is now more solid and this gives a better keytouch feeling and less noise from the keys. I think that the reason of the increased weight is related also to this.
The touch of screen is now more accurate. The screen it's not enough angled to allow any outside morning vision.
No noise at all from cpu fan, you can hear it only during booting.
The added new sound are very good.

My new K2 88 boots 7 seconds faster than my "fully" upgraded MkI K61

BTW... The K2's Factory PRELOAD.PCG works fine with the K61 - The preset banks are the same on both synths now.

@jimsweb - If you're really that put off by the new end cheeks, why not buy a Kronos X, and add the additional sound libraries?

You could remove them and spray paint them black, I suppose.

I agree, to me the wooden end panels are ugly. I like the look of my KronosX61, it's sleeker.

Isn't the back thin particle board? That's more of an issue (compared to aluminum sheet) to me, than the wood panels. I assume they're solid-wood, not particle board...

The base of the K2-88 is MDF (Probably 18mm), but not particle board - it's definitely robust enough. It needs something like that to support the HEAVY keybed, I should imagine mild steel or Aluminium would warp on a keyboard this size.

I believe the side panels are stained solid wood - the grain on mine is different to Korg's promotional pics.

I stand corrected, thanks! I had read somewhere it was particle board, MDF is a much better product for this application. Thanks again.
