serious problem with my ES2

Post by jurfin »

So first off, let me say that I contacted Korg with an email on this issue on Friday, and was promptly responded to with a note saying my email was being sent to the support folks. Considering it is a holiday weekend, I am not surprised I haven't heard back yet, and I know I will, but I guess I just wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem...

The other night, I recorded a few samples and made a few patterns with them, and then I exported all of my patterns, and then went to export all samples. It seemed to be working fine and then got stuck at 97%. After quite a bit of waiting I decided to pull the plug, because it seemed obvious it wasn't going anywhere.

Of course, I lost all of my user created samples. I can't tell you how disappointing this was, as I've probably put 100 hours into the thing since I got it, and most all of my patterns were based on my samples.

So anyways, I got over myself and started putting in new samples, making new things, and tonight the same thing has happened. After recording a few samples and making a pattern, I am stuck at 95% during the export all sample screen. This only seems to be happening when I record several new samples between exports, but obviously this is a huge bummer and not acceptable...

So is anyone else experiencing this? Do i need a better or different card? Is my unit defective? Either way, I will report back once I've got word from Korg. I am going to sit it out this time and give it 10 hours or something stupid like that to see if it finishes the process.

If this doesn't teach me to back up my samples, I don't know what will...

I haven't seen that happen on my unit but have you tried more than one SD card? It sounds to me like it isn't writing correctly. And it is very possible that you corrupted some data on it when you pulled the plug while it was writing. First try reformatting that card in the E2S and then give it another go. If it persists try another card. If all of that doesn't help then I'd say it's up to Korg to provide support or if you're still within any kind of return policy from where you bought it you can try to exchange for another unit.

I haven't had that happen either but I can say that the old card I was using took so long to export all that it appeared to be hung. After getting a new faster card it exports all in a minute or less.
