E2 - Step sequencing but with different notes/keys
How do you use the sequencer(step) but also using different notes on keyboard.
I'd like to choose different notes when in sequencer mode.

This is spoonfeeding, but you need to hit menu and scroll to "step Editor". The other alternative is to hit record and play and play the notes in. The step editor could be a lot better, my theory is Korg wants you to play in the notes so it's more musical or live or something.
One hint for working on the step editor is to select the attribute you want to edit (notes 1 to 4, gate, velocity) hit the step you want to edit, edit and repeat. Like if you want to edit velocity on a bunch of ghost notes, etc.

Everything is quantized and yes you can edit gate times in step edit.
I don't believe Korg has implemented a crappy step editor to 'force' us to play the notes in. It's more likely they didn't have the time to work out the functions properly, and that applies to pretty much all functions.
Al we can do is hope Korg will spend time perfecting the firmware. Feature wise but also trying to get the max out of the hardware. Surely it should be possible to crank up the voice count. Paraphonic is weird anyways, we don't get proper 24 voice polyphony.

Even something like this would work wonders-
1. Go to keyboard mode and find the note you wish to sequence.
2. Hold this note at the same time as changing to sequencer mode.
3. Now any steps within the sequencer mode you press would be using that note.
4. Now go back to keyboard mode and repeat with different note.
Easy

Step Jump recording is what you use for this.
1. Select Touch Scale or use a MIDI keyboard controller set to the channel of the part you want to record notes into.
2. Select Step Jump.
3. Press Play.
4. Press Record.
5. Press and hold the pad(s) for the step(s) you want to record notes into.
6. Play notes on kaoss pad or keyboard controller.
7. Let go and listen.
Repeat as necessary.
Also works for motion recording although the record light will go off after the first pass.
