Is the era of the all in one groove box over or is Korg gonna redeem theirselves with a box that can rival the Elektrons? It seems to me that they have a chance to learn a lot from this failure. What do you guys think?

Still waiting for my swappable firmware James!
james is done... Look at how he introduces the e2 on NAMM or whatever ... There is not much there .... Substance in his presentations compared to others that korg used over years is not as good ... and we all know that korg has better guys to show off new concepts such as E2 ... Him going back to emx1 proofs that he was not the right choice to introduce this great device

The es2 makes total sense to me, key feature omissions and all... This seems like the perfect blend of song sketcher and live performance tool for an era with software tendencies. It seems to me that every feature that korg 'overlooked' for this devise is really a nudge towards ableton. The packaged lite with my es2, why would they do this with a piece of gear that was meant to stand alone? They didn't, and it wasn't. My suggestion is get used to your gear, love it for what it does right, and stop hoping for 'ableton in a box' to come in a korg outfit.

Well said.
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.
