The sub-system firmware is specific to the hardware; this version addresses issues specific to the New Kronos. So, this has nothing to do with "abandoning" older models.
Thanks Dan,
I was hoping that was the case! I've had mine for a few years now; gigged with it pretty constantly; and programmed a bunch of patches, and I still have so much to learn about it.

All Sounds Off messages eliminated

Too bad there's no mention of a fix addressing the SST and voice-stealing issues that are happening with OS3.

Ah well, it's better than nothing...
psionic331! have you actually uploaded the update and tested it?.. You may be pleasantly surprised to find the anomaly has disappeared! I have yet to upload this update myself but Korg do mention in the OS3.03 documentation...

"MIDI

When using Add to Set List command, redundant MIDI messages were sent based on the destination Set List and Slot numbers. These messages are now not sending out.
Bug fixes
When changing a Set List or a Combination, or editing a Transpose value, MIDI All Sound Off message might have been sent incorrectly. This has now been fixed."

This was one of my original complaints and this "All Sounds Off" message was certainly what I suspect has been the main culprit to notes getting cut off between patch changes. I am really hoping this is the case as for me this would be the most significant fix from OS3.02

Very fast installation in my Kronos 2, the 3.03 with memory card and the Firmware 1.08 with iMac, hope I don't have to carry on anymore my M3 73 for backup.
Thank you Korg.

On the first run-though, the plug-in version of the new editor crashed Cubase on start-up.

The updates installed easy and ok, both on Kronos and PC

However, upon multiple trials, I can't get the editor to communicate with the Kronos. PC has the latest driver, and I am using USB2

Any thoughts what could be wrong?

It's a pity they still haven't updated the sub firmware for original Kronos and Kronos X with the updated SGX 2 Piano engine pic in the boot screen. It's just a detail but why is it so difficult to make?

I posted from work so haven't yet uploaded the new OS. That's great news to hear that the voice stealing issues are solved! Redundant MIDI messages... that would indeed explain voice stealing even on relatively simple combinations. Will upload later and report back. Thanks for the head's up, would make OS3 the best yet!

I am not sure that this helps voice stealing in the sequencer. This has been more of a problem since 3.0 (I believe). I am updating this weekend and will test to see. I have some sequences that have a lot of voice stealing going on. I had to make special programs for these in order to keep all of the parts playing.

Most likely you have the well known Windows issue of too many installed MIDI drivers in your Windows system and as a result, the editor can't access the Kronos MIDI drivers. The problem has been mentioned here many times.

When you start of the program and it queries for the Kronos, does it find it? If it doesn't then this is the most likely cause of your problems.

I'm happy to report that the voice stealing issues seems to have been fixed with the update!

I didn't test using sequences, but just using a combination thick with voices (I-A 003 Orchestra and Timpani) with all 16 tracks on one MIDI channel. I use this combi a lot and didn't have issues on OS2, but did have voice stealing going on when I updated to OS3 last December.

With OS 3.03, I haven't yet experienced voice stealing. This was a quick test using lots of sustain pedal and thick arpeggiating chords. Happy camper here.

Cool! more improvements for KRONOS.
If you guys at korg ever do another update to KRONOS, peak hold on input meters would be the one thing i could think KRONOS could use.
Thank you for your work updating KRONOS. :D

Thanks for this new OS.

Maybe a little bug: in MOD7, in the patch panel, sometimes I cannot change the level value with the data value at the first time. Once I entered the value with numeric keypad, it's ok: data value action seems to be "activated" again and will work.

voice stealing on patch change

Thanks for the report!...so when you change to or from this combination patch to another in a setlist does SST indeed work better with none of the timbre/reverb/effect tails getting cut off?

... I have one particular combination that also has a drum track that gets triggered and after having changed to this combination and triggered the drum track to start with a certain key the drums suddenly cut out a split second later in OS3.02! The exact same combination patch change anomaly never occurred in OS2. I use a few external synths that get sent patch changes within a combination patch from the Kronos which would also get cut off at the point of program change: this was of course due to the extraneous "all sounds off" message that Korg appear have addressed in this latest update. So I too am hoping this OS3.03 update has truly resolved these annoying issues that came with OS3.02.

Well, there's one bug they haven't fixed. Errors in the Scan Code table. I still have no hyphens on my external text keyboard. This keyboard has no numeric pad so I have to use the minus/underline key on the top row. There are a number of other errors, 12 in all. Seems like they only set up the alpha/numerics on the main keyboard and didn't bother with any of the punctuation.

voice stealing unresolved in 3.03

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but having now updated my Kronos X all the same problems I and many others have been experiencing since 3.02 have not been rectified with this latest update.

The one particular combie change that used to work perfectly in OS2 still cuts off sounds in OS3.03 as it did in OS3.02. I am using very complex full timbre slot combies but still this should not be the case if originally in OS2 I was having no problems.

certainly removing "all sounds off" messages is a good idea but it is obviously NOT the reason for the anomaly.

This is very frustrating because Korg have been aware of this pretty much since december when version 3 came out and the issue has still not been resolved.
