New Kronos hardware updates..

Seems the new Kronos comes with 2Gb Ram... did anyone upgrade to 4Gb? What brands and sorts of Ram would be advised? (i think we first need to know which Ram is factory placed)

There seems to be room for a 2nd SSD, will a 512GB Sata 600 work?
Can you also upgrade the first SSD?

Seems the fan is extremely quiet in the new unit, so a fan upgrade will not be neccesary?

It lists as 2GB useable. My K2 says 3GB installed. Have to take into account the RAM used for OS. I think you can add another 1GB and second SSD if you need it.

No value to going 4 gb ram . It can be done ( I have) but only 3 GB is addressable due to th OS

This and all related questions to O/p have been discussed thoroughly and recently. Google the forum for that

In general with memmory pairing in computer buiseness, 2+2 is faster then 2+1. So having 4 gigs would actually be beneficial..

But then is this really important with software capping the number of voices, number of effects and so the performance..

The Kronos X and Kronos 2 come maxed out on RAM. You have approx. 2GB RAM available for sampling if you load just the OS and base "ROM" samples. You can't add any more RAM.

You could swap out the main SSD but just adding a second SSD is the easiest approach. I'm a sampling maniac and get by with the 30GB on my original Kronos plus a 128GB secondary SSD. Yes sometimes I have to clean stuff up and get rid of duplicates/unnecessary files, but it helps to keep things organized anyway. Having 256GB secondary might be something I do in the future.

Busch, do you have a K2? Any trouble connecting the SATA cable to the SATA 0 connector on the motherboard? Tucked in under the internal frame with lots of stuff in the way. I don't know what is involved to remove the motherboard, but that might be how this cable gets connected from looking at mine. I'm stumped a bit.

Btw, this board is about 4 weeks old, and it came with a single memory card (additional slot open), which is inscribed 4GB on it. Good news, I guess.

I installed the SSD upside down. That was then barely long enough to connect the cable. Or buy a longer cable?
