PA4X videos and sound clips

Post by snoitan »

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that actually hearing the pa4x in action is one of the most important things. I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to any posted videos or sound clips of it in action. Hopefully some of the music stores will be coming out with demos soon.

Here's a new demo in French. Just a good job of demonstrating sounds.

Two items on the quick Demos just loved. Read styles direct from usb and auto create styles from Midi. Brilliant!

Yeah, I'm very curious on how well the MIDI conversion to a style works. I can see how easier songs wouldn't be difficult to breakdown into an intro, verse, chorus, bridge and use different variations for each, but I wonder how it might do it on a more complicated song.

I think there should be an option for manuall involvement setting stuff like markers and such to have your own input on the styles.. and deciding on your variations and creating intro and ending

Also wondering how they will handle 16 tracks?

Maybe, once the file is converted and saved, it'll be open to adjustments. It wouldn't surprise me - need to have further information on it. Too early yet to assume anything, really.

Making styles from SMF's has been possible for years. If all you want is 'songstyles', it is easy enough.

The problem comes about because of how hard it is to find 4-8 bars in any song without passing chords, leading basslines, etc..

I doubt any software is ever going to overcome this limitation...

You play that good, you can make most things sound great!

Without a direct to recorder sound, I'm afraid the room and the speakers and volume level are kind of getting in the way of a really close listen. And, bottom line for piano sounds is, how great are the dynamics? How well does it respond to hard and soft playing, how smoothly and realistic is the transition through your playing strengths, how good are the touch response curves (do we finally get fully editable ones?)?

I wasn't hearing a lot of dynamics in those videos...

I'm impressed by the solo violin in this one... outstanding (although the run/gliss up is a bit tempo sensitive - would be nice if high velocity gave you a quicker one). Best violin I think I've heard in an arranger yet.

I think I'm beginning to hear a BIT more care matching the samples that DNC uses although the trumpet (or was it a flugel?) had poorly matched decoration sounds to the main tone. This is something Yamaha have taken extreme care about... All the sounds an SA2 sound uses all sound like they were played on the same instrument, miked the same way, by the same player. This is CRITICAL to pull off a convincing performance.

As in youtube Video of Pa4X play by Fernando I think the Sounds of Bamboo Flute and Sarangi are not by Keyboard these are the sounds from original instruments.

I guessed as much from your comments.

I would be very shocked and surprised if Fernando used anything other than the keyboard in his Korg demo - he is well known and respected.
HOWEVER, of course I do not really know.

If you are correct, then the video clip is unfair and intentionally misleading.

Cheers
