Setlist Maker Kronos problems? MIDI program change issues?
Hello all...
Has anyone experienced issues when changing program via MIDI on the Kronos?
I use setlist maker - each song has a preset (program / combi). Generally when I create a setlist maker show and toggle through presets theirs no problem. HOWEVER... Every now and then, is causes the Kronos to act up. For example.. Changing from a combi to a clav and their will be no sound... Or changing to an organ and theirs no sound. (or synth.. same issue.)
Every now and then during a gig, the Kronos just dies after changing preset.
For the organs, the rotary speaker icon greys out when theirs a no sound issue.. This issue is totally random and doesent always happen. For synths/clavs, theirs no visual indication that a mishap has happened.
I can make a short video and try to re-create this exact fault if that would help?
If it matters, this is a first gen Kronos 61 (which was sent to a service centre for the X upgrade) - running the latest OS update...

I'm about to start experimenting with Setlistmaker and the Kronos so I shall be watching to see if anyone can solve this.
I have it working seamlessly with an Roland RD700, and plan to use Set List Maker to run both the Korg and the Roland.

Ide say 95% of the time it works seamlessly. Its just always going to be that one time you need it to work most when it goes wrong...DaveKeys wrote:I'm about to start experimenting with Setlistmaker and the Kronos so I shall be watching to see if anyone can solve this.

I've been using SetlistMaker and my Kronos for almost a year now with zero issues. I had it directly connected at first via USB cable and now am using an iConnectMIDI4+ in between. No problems either way. It's an original K88 (50x serial number) that has been upgraded.
Are you using Setlist mode on the Kronos? If not, I would highly suggest you do. I also make all of my sounds (even the single voice ones) Combis and map those into Setlist mode.

I use setlistmaker, but I dont use it to control my kronos, I use it the other way around.
I use the Kronos Setlist page to select the songs on setlistmaker.
I've never had an issue.

Can anyone advise me on program changes for multiple devices with SetListMaker?
I've got the Kronos USB'd into the iPad. It controls the Kronos fine on Channel 2.
I'm wondering if from the Kronos I can send a MIDI thru or somehow do this via USB to the RD700, which is on Channel 1, so that both keyboards have their patches selected simultaneously.
Or, do I have to get a MIDI interface for the iPad and do it the old fashioned way? Would prefer to go USB if poss.
Any hints greatly appreciated.

The way I do it is to have my Kronos send the patch changes (via Combi in Setlist Mode) to all of my other gear. I only use SLM (whether it was directly connected or through my iConnectMIDI4+) to send program changes to the Kronos. It keeps everything very tidy - and also serves as a backup in case my iPad shoots craps - I can still use the Kronos to control all the gear.DaveKeys wrote:Can anyone advise me on program changes for multiple devices with SetListMaker?

There's no way to send MIDI program changes 'thru' the Kronos from SLM to other gear if it is connected to the Kronos via USB.

The way Jeebustrain described it is exactly how I use Set list maker. It works flawlessly.

Thanks for advice guys.
I solved the problem in the end by connecting a powered USB hub to the iPad via the Lightning USB camera adapter, and running direct USB connections to each Keyboard - the RD700nx and the Kronos. No need to use Krono's setlist - at least not for my purposes. It works great.
A few settings to save you headaches in SLM:
In Settings/MIDI Devices, make sure that each device has 'all ports' selected, and that each has it's own Channel assigned. I use Ch1 for Roland and Ch2 for Korg.
This will ensure that when you create MIDI presets, you get 2 rows for entering MSB LSB prog data for each device. Also, it's worth going to 'Audio & MIDI' and toggling on the 'Send MIDI Presets Together'.
If you don't want to use USB, I also got it to work well with a MIDI interface via the Lightning USB adapter, and I was going to go down this route, until I discovered that I couldn't access performance numbers on the Roland over 127 (the limitations of MIDI), whereas I can access them all over USB - so that swung it for me.
Hope this helps!
