thousands of styles yeah, it took almost 18 hours the other day to convert the folder of yamaha styles I had downloaded.

Thanks a million for the offer Amit, no hurry you can do it when you find some time !

I'm not interested in any one style in particular but any additions to my current set of styles would be great eg: Reggae. Is it possible to take any style from this Yamaha site: http://www.psrtutorial.com/sty/collections/index.html

If it works with one then I can try out some of the others myself.

Here is a link to a quick video . it should be up in about an hour or so (420mb). sorry for bad quality, that's the best my mobile could do, and too lazy to set my dslr up.

This assumes that you have created converted the style to the midi file using the y2lmidi software and takes it up from there (the keyboard part)

Hi Amit,

Just tried out a Yamaha reggae style as per your process. Now the Korg part was a very big improvement to what I had done earlier - at least it sounds much better.

I now think the conversion did not take place correctly because I found that the style was converted into one big variation1 i.e. no intros, no other variation(2/3/4) & no endings. I first converted the styles ticking all the 4 options (Swap Intro 1<> Intro 3......), I then tried 'un-ticking' the 4 options but still no difference i.e. there is no segregation between the intros, variations & endings.

What could have gone wrong ?? The version of Y2KMIDI that I have is 1.3.

Any help would be welcome.

Just a stab in the dark, did you press and hold the SHIFT key when you pressed the EXECUTE tab on the lcd screen for the style IMPORT? SHIFT - EXECUTE is required to import all the style's elements at once.

I think that may be the reason because I did not press Shift+Execute !! I had done the Shift+Execute earlier & it had worked. I'll give it a try & if it works it would be great !!

Shift+execute definitely, i thought i mentioned but then my voice usually is not clear nuff.
there are usually few of these things that need to be addressed for styles.
1. Source chord , look at the notes or in daw to knkw the key of the piece. CMaJ7 usuallg.
2. Mix levels : the initial photo you/I took by loading the style midi as song should help to set the expression values, without that the style will never sound good, as the mix levels are off.
3.styles converted from sff2 [new format styles].
4 optional; i start by setting the drums to a xg one
5. Filter values, if the style uses filter automation, cc71[cutoff] and cc74[res] then you need to tame those as korg filters are different than those on yamaha, go to event edit and change all cc71 so that they are valued under 98.
