This is not passing itself of as a studio instrument. All the original marketing of it was all about out and about ideas jotting and live performance.

Nah.. In Omaha at the time there was a big-box style music store called Marz Music. They bought a ton of them hoping they would sell, and filled up their showroom. I also bought two DX200's there for $145 each, and they had XL-7 and MP-7 there for around $550, which was an unheard of price. To be fair, they were not in business for too long..

We had a Mars back in VA. Not sure how long they were in business, but thy closed right around 2000 I think.....

In my opinion, that makes it even *more* of a product failure. I mean, since the ESX/EMX are arguably the most intuitive, creative pieces of live gear in the history of electronic music, *at least* make your next product in the line as functional as these, right?

Lol, speaking all this truth will make people think I don't love my new instrument! That's not true.. The ES2 is like a child with a severe mental handicap, but with a kind heart.

I defend the new Electribes. I actually think it's funny how pissed off people get here. But anyway, I might be alone in actually thinking the old Electribes are overrated and sound dated. I make ambient, drone and experimental music and the E2 has proven to be a useful tool. I'm not expecting a full fledged synth or drum machine when I pick it up, but rather something that does a bit of everything. I'll keep saying it - jack of all trades, master of none. It has flaws? So what, every piece of gear has flaws to someone and that doesn't mean it's s**t. You learn to make music with it or move on. I'd love to get in a room with some of these complainers and see their workflow.

Amen. Sometimes I think it's lame that this forum hosts 1000000 discussions about what people hate but barely anyone posts music they make on the devices. I mean really, the new electribes are great. I've made a lot of music I'm happy with and that to me sounds pro. It's like, if you think your ESX is so great then post some music and let's talk about it. Arguing about LEDs and sample time is so stupid.

Everyone knows it's not you. You've clearly mentioned that you miss certain features, yet you still use the new tribes. It's ok to be frustrated with them. I definitely have my moments. The problem is users here who constantly whine about the same tired issues. No 4 bars...yeah we get that....step edit dumbed down....it's been known...etc etc.

It's been almost a year now since then tribe2 was released. The whining and moaning should log be overdue by now. It's far more fruitful to concentrate on workarounds and tips and tricks than to complain about what's lacking. I personally would like a stronger community here...where we help each other , ask and answer questions, work flow ideas, share sounds and patches, etc. these synth and sampler challenges we've been throwing over the past few months is a good example of that. The track that apapdop and myself did in tandem is another. Let's move forward and not stagnate.

True that. At the end of the day we aren't getting the Electribe everyone hoped for, so yeah.. I'll continue to use them and, if I let a complaint slip here and there, I'm sorry. I guess I am an old fart set in my ways.. Get off my lawn!

I think everything there has an electribe on it.

I don't generally promote it because none of it is what I'd call a mastered finished track. Mostly stuff done for various challenges, along with a few old jams from about 15 years ago.

More ex than ex there too.

And just to be clear I've never called the new electribes junk or garbage, they just don't appeal to me as is. And I'm trying hard to not comment on them anymore.

Pretty sure the comment wasn't directed at me anyway but I figured I'd post a link anyway. Enjoy. Tribe on.
