Kronos 1 setup to Kronos 2
Hey all,

Thanks!

Yes, you can load patches and set lists from K1 to K2.
Just note that the Kronos 2 has a different program order. So, when loading in Kronos 1 sounds some adjustments need to be made. Korg has simplified the process with the release of the 3.0.3 OS.
When you first load from K1 to K2, Kronos 2 owners just have to choose “yes” when the message about remaping pops up. As long as you have 3.0.3 or higher then it will remap everything on the fly. Very cool! Just save the PCG file with the new mapping set up after you load. Then it will all set up for you if you need to reload it at any time.
That's how it's supposed to work. I don't have a K2 to test over here, but my good friends at Korg filled me in when I had a similar question from a customer. May be some other issues with the set lists.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

My Kronos haven't remaped everything on the fly. The combis and programs are not matched. Can somebody please clarify how this works? Am I missing something? Thanks!kid_nepro_2002 wrote:Yes, you can load patches and set lists from K1 to K2.

If you have a custom K1 setup then when loading PCG in Kronos 2 you'd better choose "no" to remapping window !
WavesArt EXs libraries that are made for Kronos X mapping , when in K2 installation procedure it's strongly
advised to click "no" in re-mapping pops up window for send Kronos 2 PCG files when loaded !
So try the same for your K1 PCG file !

Just bumping this in hope of some guidance. I'm trying to get some more info on how to do the below.
How does 3.0.3 do this automatically? I must be missing something obvious -- but can anyone explain the steps to make it re-map?
Auto-remapping factory program references for KRONOS and KRONOS X sound files
Combinations, Songs, and Drum Tracks use Programs by referring to the Program’s bank and number. The factory Programs of the new KRONOS are arranged differently from those of the original KRONOS and KRONOS X. In order for Combinations, Songs, and Drum Tracks designed for the older instruments to sound the same on the new KRONOS, the Program references need to be corrected to use the new locations. Software version 3.0.3 can now do this automatically.

- Did you saved that PCG with an older Kronos that was under OS v.303 ?
because I think in that case you will not see Auto-remapping option.
Do not remember for sure , but I think that PCG file has only OS version signature so if made under latest v.3.03 then Kronos 2
can't distinguish if this PCG file was made with an older Kronos !
- I strongly believe that you must not load the whole PCG file of an older Kronos but only partial custom Programs & Combis.

that's indeed not going to work, you only will get the remapping feature if the kronos sound set was saved with an earlier firmware version. There is no way to remapping functionality between version 3.03 kronos 1 and 2.Codd12 wrote:Yes, both old and new Kronos are running v.303.
I tried loading a custom Combi and no remapping occurs. The combi just refers to the original program locations (which are the wrong sounds).
I really hate to manually re-program hundreds of combis -- any other ideas?
I have no idea why korg didn't made this possible through a menu option.
So in your case you have to manually reprogram every combi.
As an alternative trick you could use an earlier version of PCG tools with an older Saved PGC file (version 2), then open the new Combi PCG with version three and copy those combis to the version 2 window in PCG tools. Then save it in pcg tools and then load it manually in the kronos. Because you used an older version of pcg tools with a version 2 PCG files, the kronos thinks it's an older PCG file and offers the remap function again.
(I know this works, because that's the way i currently do it.)
The Program order mess introduced with the kronos 2 makes it very hard to share combi collections between the models. It was the main reason for me to cancel my combi collections for release, because it was to hard to deliver the same combis on both kronos versions.

Don't you have an older saved PCG before upgrading Kronos 1 to OS v3 ?Codd12 wrote:I really hate to manually re-program hundreds of combis -- any other ideas?
This will save a lot of your time !
There is another method to try :
Find Kronos 1 factory Preload.PCG (factory folder of Kronos 1) , and try to load Programs U_C up to U_G without remapping
and then load only your custom Programs & Combinations and this maybe lead you to a solution !
