KORG Electribe 2 Paint Job from China

Post by Degree11 »

The subject speaks for itself. Some people were concern about the E2 being manufactured in China rather than Japan. Well, the paint quality on it SUCKS!
You really have to treat it delicately. I thought this was supposed to be a gig type of box, but the paint on it is not durable at all. A grainy box like the mc303 would had been boss for gigs.
Dents, chipping and scratches can happen when you least expect it.

I've been toting mine all over the world just tossing it in my backpack, making music out in the woods, etc. Not noticed any chipping or paint issues myself. Is your's flaking off or something?

There are SLIGHT signs of paint wear on the very bottom edge of my black sampler. My grey one is pristine after a year of careful use. Both get dragged in and out of a zipped laptop sleeve every time i use them and are frequent flyers in my rucksack.
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.

Battledamage tells a story. I like wear on metal and wood surfaces.

Unfortunately the story might be that a run of powdercoating didn't adhere well.

I guess not everyone is experiencing bad paint situations. That is good to hear. Although, I have come across some stories online. If anyone gets a skin for theirs be sure to post it here. Personally I am going to work on getting a carbon fiber skin.

I hate to say it but I got nailed by poor quality control regarding the black paint on the Korg Electribe Sampler.

I thought of returning it but , that would have been a pain in the ass just over paint. I may just repaint it eventually.

I wonder if that is why James Pullen / Mistabishi repainted his ES2 with that silver look.
