I bought a B stock from AMS, and it was a horrible experience.
I'm not dogging AMS AT ALL, I've been buying things from them since I bought the Karma workstation from them all those years ago.
Who I am dogging are the people Korg chooses to do their repairs for them.
I had the infamous keyboard problem.
It sat in the repair persons shop for 5 months, after getting excuse after excuse of the repair person blaming Korg for taking so long in getting him the parts.
(I understand that not all repair people are like this, but in the 21 years I've been doing music semi professionally I've had more horror stories than good experiences)
So I called Korg directly, and the next day I shipped my unit back to them, and the very next day I got a brand new replacement Kronos 88 (the original one).
I got it so quickly because I'm right across the Long Island Sound from them. I could have taken a ferry and delivered it in person, lol.
But with the new unit, I have had not one single thing go wrong with it.
So I really would save the hassle and just get a new unit.
Learn from my morality tale! lolz.
Good luck in your endeavors!
Buying a Kronos, new Kronos 2 or used Kronos
Moderators: Sharp, X-Trade, Pepperpotty, karmathanever
Kronos 2 has to go back to the store.
I rang Korg and they said the error is a hardware fault and needs to be looked at.
It has appeared twice whilst playing program sounds, once whilst editing a combination and then once since installing the new operating system, 4 times in the space of 2 days use.
The keyboard had definitely been taken out of the box too. The store did not admit it before buying, but they now say with it being the last one in the store, if someone had been in asking to look at one, they would have unboxed it from the warehouse. Finger marks were on the screen anyway, the paper which should cover the screen was in the bottom of the box, even Korg said it doesn't sound boxed new. No staples either in the box which if new, they definitely should have been.
More like it has been on display since they received it from Korg last July (date on the box 15th July 2015).
I've asked for a full refund, no more Korg, I'll stick to what I already have.

Thats a shame to have a shoddy experience with such a wonderful instrument.Craig_UK wrote:Kronos 2 has to go back to the store.

Obviously, the store tried to pull a fast one by you. That is fraudulent representation, IMO, based on what you posted and that you paid the new price.
In this day and age, we have to keep our eyes wide open, esp with our hard earned money.
Used or new
We are getting to the point in lifecycle of the new K2-88 that if you watch carefully you can pick up a used one. They have been out over a year. I saw a used one here in Ottawa on Kijiji just the other day. At a good price too.

Re: Used or new
Here in my area of the US, craigslist usually has a few Kronos for sale.Ottawa58 wrote:We are getting to the point in lifecycle of the new K2-88 that if you watch carefully you can pick up a used one. Mostly the original Kronos and the X.
Like most complex/expensive things, I would recommend a careful evaluation of a used item
Evaluation
Amen to that. I just watched a video of a fellow who ordered sight unseen a Kawai VPC -- used, and was disappointed on delivery. The keys were horrible.
I wouldn't buy any used Kronos without serious and methodical testing.

Re: Evaluation
exactly. I can't imagine buying a used Kronos on eBay. But it happens all the time. True, the buyer has Paypal recourse ( 120 days ?) but the hassle...Ottawa58 wrote:Amen to that.
