I have my Pa4X setup so that when I change variations the RH sound changes too. Here is the problem.
The new RH sound is not available until the first beat of the next measure which means any pick-up notes I play after changing variations are played with the old sound and not the new sound. That really sounds bad. On all my other keyboards when I change variations the new sound is available immediately. I have also noticed a slight delay in the new sound after it is available.
Am I missing a setting somewhere or is this a OS bug?

Hi Deane
You are right!!!
BUT it does work OK if you hit the new VAR (or FILL) in the first half of the measure, then the sound is instantly changed.
I thought this might be linked to "Cue Mode" but I was wrong.
Sorry - can't see a way around this - would be nice if it was instant throughout the "preceding" measure (or even an option like cue mode)
I don't think this is a bug as such as I believe it was the same on my PA3X if my memory serves me right.
However, having said all that I am not experiencing any "delay" in the new sound.
Cheers & sorry!!!!
Pete

If the both sounds has same FX effects, wet sounds still uncut while you changing, at least what I find out on Pa600.
BTW, wish PA4x has SST (smooth sound transition) like Kronos ... maybe Pa5x will

Re: Pa4X Variation Change Issue
[quote="hammer"][b]I have my Pa4X setup so that when I change variations the RH sound changes too.

Deane - I remember setting something to say "IMMEDIATE" that related to the transpose and the program change - sorry, I don't remember where I saw it, but it's in there. Maybe that'll help!

Re: Pa4X Variation Change Issue
I know this is an old post but I think that others may have the same situation and I have a partial solution (two steps instead of the preferred one step)...hammer wrote:I have my Pa4X setup so that when I change variations the RH sound changes too. Here is the problem.

If I am playing in VAR 1 and want to move to VAR 2 and the instruments that it will select, but want to use the VAR 2 instruments before the measure change, I press KEYBOARD SET 2 button mid measure (instruments change immediately) and then press VARIATION 2 (accompaniment starts next measure)
Hope that this is a solution and is helpful for others .
