Hello everyone / 16-bit question.

Post by farriagada »

Hello everyone. I just bought a Korg Kronos 88 and it's my first Korg so I'm kinda new here.

I wanted to ask you if there's any 8-bit or 16-bit program out there that nicely emulates old videogame music like the one in Nintendo systems (whether it's NES or SNES or GBA or whatever).

If there's not.. how can I create my own? Can anyone please give me some advice? I need it to compose a new retro-style videogame music.

Thanks in advance :D

I don't remember now, but I guess it is very easy to create since these kind of sounds are basic synth sounds like square, sawtooth, sine, etc. You can create these sounds from scratch just loading Krome samples into an Init Program oscillators.

Thank you for your response! Yes, they actually are basic squares and sawtooths but not quite the modern sounds of today's keyboard. I'll try to make my own vintage square sound :)

farriagada, you can create loading basic samples to oscillators without effects. I believe it can sound very similar to a basic synth sound. But if you want to create your own sounds totally from scratch, like a analog synthesizer, it is not possible to do with Krome.

Thank you for your response, I will try to load a basic sample to oscillator without effect as you told me :)
