NanoPad and Windows 10

Post by boots49 »

Hi,
I recently purchased a Korg NanoPad (new/old stock) to use as a drum pad controller for EZDrummer2. I am running Windows 10. I can't get it to work and I'm not sure if it is a bad unit or if the issue is with Windows 10 or EZDrummer2.
At first, when plugging in the USB cable from the NanoPad the red light on the NanoPad comes on, then goes off after about 30 seconds. Then a window pops up saying the USB device you connected is malfunctioning. After some research, I downloaded what appears to be the latest driver from Korg, and then Windows seems to recognize the device and the red light on the NanoPad stays on. When I open EZDrummer2, the NanoPad does show up under Midi devices and I check it and Apply. BUT, none of the pads on the NanoPad activate any drums. (mouse clicks still do). I also downloaded Korg's Kontrol Editor, but when opening that up to the Select Device window, NanoPad shows as "not connected". I have checked and the NanoPad is in one of the first 10 midi ports (I believe it was 5) so that's not the issue.
Would anyone here have any ideas on this?
Thanks for any help!

If the Korg Editor doesn't see it, it would seem to be a problem with the nanoPad. I have a nanoPad2 and haven't ever had any problems similar to yours. I don't use EZDrummer2 but I have used it with just about everything I own without any problems.

I would try a reset first to default setting on the nanoPad (You can find it in the manual that came with it or online at Korg) and if that doesn't solve it, I would try to get another one.

Thanks Telengard. Are you running Windows 10?

Don't know why my question posted twice, but thanks for letting me know you are running Windows 10.
