Kronos hangs up while playing

Post by Spieler »

Hello together,

since about 4 weeks i'm a new owner of a Kronos 2.
One thing, however, makes me headache.
I don't know if someone here has the same phenomenon, therefore i will ask you. Hopefully you can help me.
The Problem:
Out of nowhere, the Kronos hangs up and quits with a loud "beep" sound. The Kronos reacts to nothing. I switched it off and on and the Kronos boot again as if nothing had happend.
This problem happened to me in the first four weeks 3 times and for me it is not ok.
Did you know this problem?
It is really uncomfortable, because i don't know when it will happen again and on stage i don't like such interruptions.
It happened to me in "combi"-mode and "program"-mode.
In "combi"-mode it was quite funny. During playing, the notes cuts off after a short time, as if the polyphony was not sufficient and a short time later the Kronos drops out. In "program"-mode, the drop out was without noticeable warning.

Is this a topic for the customer service?
If someone from KORG reads this topic please let me know how i can solve this Problem.

Regards
Dirk

Kronos hangs up while playing

Post by Czynym »

Hello Spieler-
I have also noticed a cutoff of notes and volume while playing the Berlin grand/ string program. This was during the first hour of playing my Kronos 2 fresh out of the box last night( Sunday-Oct. 9th). By the way- when I opened the new box and removed the keyboard, there was NO POWER CORD! I went to my local dealer to get one, but I will be contacting Korg support regarding this. Hopefully something will answer the problem you and I experienced.
Thanks.

It seems to be a power supply problem.
Probably contacting Korg support would be the better option.

Some owners have reported that using a non Korg power lead can also present problems.

Thanks Pedro for the reply. Is it correct that a Korg power cord has its name on it? If so the cord provided by the dealer was not one.

Hi i'm little confused about the power cord problems.
Pedro are your post answerd to my question or to Czynym's question.
I used the power cord which was deliverd with the Kronos. It is not marked with KORG. It is a standard power cord that you can buy also for an personal computer or something like that. I think that could be not the problem.

Since you have a new Kronos there is a firmware update for the Kronos 2 if you haven't installed it i would do that soon as possible. Not sure that would be causing your problem though. Mine did the same thing that your Kronos2 was doing and i installed the firmware update and never had a problem since.

Make sure you have the newest operating system & the newest firmware installed. It's been over a year since I had your fault, the up-grades worked for me. The problem never returned.

Hi at all,

i don't know the actual firmware of my Kronos but i think that the newest is installed. I will have a look on it in the evening.
Maybe this could help to install the newest firmware. Hope this is not already installed.

Thanks

0S 3.04

Firmware 1.08 update

If you update i would bet your KRONOS 2 would be fine.

Hi together,

i start Kronos to check the firmware and it is 3.0.4 installed. So i think it is the latest update, or?

I swichted the Kronos off and i'm going to dinner about 1 hour later i start the Kronos again and now it took 2 times to boot my Kronos, very crazy.

After starting the Kronos i got the followig message
"If problem has been detected, which may have been caused by cycling power too quickly. Please turn the Kronos off, wait for 10 sec, and then turn it back on"
I did it and i got the next failure:
"SYSTEM STARTUP FAILED
Please turn the Kronos off, wait, and thean turn it back on.
(If any USB devices are connected, pleae disconnect them first)

Now i am more and more confused.
Best Regards
Dirk
