Kronos hangs up while playing

Your message is the same as I had. At the time I was a bit confused about the 'operating system' and 'firmware'. They are totally different. After I up-graded the FIRMWARE I never got that message again.

Hello Spieler.
Sorry to learn you're having such problems.
To clarify my post.....the first part was a suggestion to your problem and the second part was for Spieler.
I'm sure there has been a discussion about the power cords on this forum, but can't find it at the moment.
However, the following link has similar posts.
http://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthread ... pply_Issue
This may not help you directly, though, as there could be something else that's causing the problem.
Other members have made some suggestions, perhaps more will be forthcoming later.
Forgive me for not being able to provide a more positive answer.....I don't really know what the solution would be...I just post my thoughts/opinions with good intention.
I do hope you get it sorted soon and return to music making again.
Best Wishes.

Hi,
As well as all the suggestions above, consider also powering the Kronos via UPS. If your power is a little ropey that will cause all sorts of problems.
Touch wood I have never had a problem on stage with the Kronos via UPS. I have had the odd crash in the studio where I do not use the UPS.

3.0.4 is the OS. NOT firmware.Spieler wrote:Falcon 2e what do you mean with operating system and firmware. If i switch on the Kronos in the display is written Version: Kronos 3.0.4.
Is this the firmware? or the operating system? Where can i find or check the actual status of the firmware.

The 3.0.4 refers to the OS and is displayed via the Global page etc.
I haven't found any reference to which Firmware is currently installed on my Kronos 1.
However,I can see the logos for the nine engines during boot....which means that the Firmware update is present.
The Firmware only needs to be installed once... it will survive any os update, drive format and replacement/ second drive addition etc.
Not too sure if this also applies for the Kronos 2....probably the engine logos would be present anyway, being the latest model, but there has been an exclusive Firmware 1.08 update for the K2 since its launch.
Hope this helps.

Re: Kronos hangs up while playing
My K1 when did pretty much the same thing many years ago. Only mine would not boot up. Took it into the local shop and their diagnosis was a bad motherboard and also that I needed a new fan. Ultimately Korg just sent me a whole new machine. I would say your best bet is to take it to a authorized service center. It's probably hardware related. And being as you have a Kronos2 you are probably still under warranty.Spieler wrote:Hello together,
since about 4 weeks i'm a new owner of a Kronos 2.
One thing, however, makes me headache.
I don't know if someone here has the same phenomenon, therefore i will ask you. Hopefully you can help me.
The Problem:
Out of nowhere, the Kronos hangs up and quits with a loud "beep" sound. The Kronos reacts to nothing. I switched it off and on and the Kronos boot again as if nothing had happend.
This problem happened to me in the first four weeks 3 times and for me it is not ok.
Did you know this problem?
It is really uncomfortable, because i don't know when it will happen again and on stage i don't like such interruptions.
It happened to me in "combi"-mode and "program"-mode.
In "combi"-mode it was quite funny. During playing, the notes cuts off after a short time, as if the polyphony was not sufficient and a short time later the Kronos drops out. In "program"-mode, the drop out was without noticeable warning.![]()
Is this a topic for the customer service?
If someone from KORG reads this topic please let me know how i can solve this Problem.
Regards
Dirk

Firmware up-date. As I said, it's been about a year since I up-dated both OS & firmware. If you down load the firmware instructions from the link, I think you will find that as you do the up-date, somewhere in the process, you will get a message that your firmware is either up to date, or needs the newer version. If you go back to your dealer maybe your Korg guy can help you check your Kronos for you.

Hi together yesterday i had a call with the german KORG support because of my problem. The guy told me that it seems that the Kronos has an internal failure maybe a loose RAM or a defect solder joint or something like that.
My dealer has ordered a new one and in the next days we will replace my old one against the new one.
Now for me the topic is finished (hopefully the new one is ok) and thanks to all are given comments to thist topic.

That's good news. When you pick up your new K, I think you should check and make sure your unit is 'up-to-date' with the newest OS & firmware before you take it home. When I unpacked mine fresh out of the box, I found it was out of date. I'm sure mine had been shipped with the newest up-dates at that time, but other up-dates were released after it left the factory. Good luck & enjoy your new one.
