Water resistant cover for Kronos 2

Post by kfwa »

Hello,

I can not find any liquid spill resistant cover option for Kronos 2 88 keys on musical instruments stores' websites. Water proof will be best but resistant would do too. Does anyone know of such a keyboard cover and where it can be had?

Haha, i was at the store looking for a basic cloth cover or towel to keep the dust off my kronos when i noticed shower curtains at a cheaper price.
They were light weight, very cheap and not only keep dust off but make a good water barrier.
Its the type of shower curtain i will never get again for use in the shower because its thin, light weight and rips easily if i lean or grab against it in the shower. I get the more expensive thicker ones for the shower.
But the cheap thin ones are perfect for covering up Kronos and actually cover wide enough to spread over a set up of several keyboard and equipment. Double tier or a small arc of side by side boards.

I just use a sheet of clear plastic vinyl which I bought by the length from a local rubber and foam supplier. I cut it to shape for each of my keyboards.
It is completely water and dust proof and the bonus is you can still see the hardware underneath when not in use, like there's nothing covering it at all :-)

You guys are making me feel guilty for just throwing an old towel over my K2-73.

Don't feel guilty
There's nothing wrong with an old towel to keep the dust off!
If your not concerned with it being water proof, and for most people water wouldn't be a concern anyway. Cloth covers are great too!

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I went with

https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Leisure-6 ... nches+wide

Does the job and for $15. Since K2 88 is a bit smaller than the cover dimensions and my stand is not that high so there is some excess. Not the best aesthetic but not the worst too.
I will never take it outside my home studio but I am often with a coffee mug. It should be good protection hopefully. Since its water proof it would also ensure there is no fine dust that can get through in time from spandex types.

This guy makes very nice covers for reasonable prices, but he hasn't added the Kronos yet. Maybe if Kronos owners who are on Gearslutz ask, he'll add the Kronos to his next batch.
