PA4X & iPad integration?

Post by Jugoslovak »

Hi guys & gals...

I know I have seen a few of you talking about using the iPad together with the PA4X, especially in songbook mode.
I have been searching for the last 4 hours and for the life of me I can not find the details I am looking for! PLEASE HELP!!

I know there is some sort of software/app available for download into the iPad where if I import PDF files (song lyrics/chords) into dropbox, this software/app can read these pdf's and when I click on a song/pdf file, it will automatically change to the corresponding style in the PA4X?

Can someone please help me out and point me in the rite direction? ALSO... what hardware/wiring do I need to sync the iPad and PA4X together for this?

Thanks in advance.

See http://www.baum-software.ch/english.html for Songbook+ for iPad. There is a fully functional free lite version available.

Going on from the choice of software for iPad and Pa4x my issue is this.

I am using the Korg Module App on my iPad air 2 and connection is via the iPad lightening connector and headphones out into the aux audio inputs on the Pa4x.

Two things I am looking for answers. As the lightening port is being used to the Pa4x this precludes being able to connect the iPad to the mains for charging. It appears that when the iPad is connected via the iPad lightening connector and PA4x rear USB host socket that the Pa4x does not charge the iPad??? Does anyone know how to overcome this issue?

Next is that when using this setup I can hear a light buzz via the audio channels and when you select a different patch in the Korg Module App there is some noise present. This could be because the audio and USB is suffering from some kind of internal ground loop and as yet I need to try the iPad direct to the mixer to test this.

Yes, you'll need to buy a connector that will allow you to charge/plug in the iPad while using it.

I'm using the recently released Korg plugKEY http://amzn.to/2gKR7ap which allows for this. (You'll need to buy the micro USB power adaptor separately.) It has MIDI in, stereo 1/4" outputs, a volume control and 1/8" headphone out.

Apple sells one called the "Lightning to USB Camera Adaptor". I have one and it does allow charging with connecting midi to your keyboard.

I forgot about that one. http://amzn.to/2gHSdqQ

I was thinking of the older model which didn't have a microUSB plug.

Definitely a cheaper option, if you don't need the audio outs.

I have the earlier apple USB to lightning adaptor which does not offer charging. The plug key offers more so I will get hold of one of those as opposed to another overpriced apple accessorie.
