Congratulations Ronnie
I would recommend that you get the OS up to 1.2.1 for now - it seems ok but 1.2.4 has some new issues.
Suggestion re Christmas present for your wife: Korg Kronos?
But seriously, enjoy your new toy and try and get some sleep!!!
Cheers
Pete

Thanks Pete for your reply... Getting my wife a Kronos she would think it was a foreign currency...
She will get an Android Tablet for Christmas from me less bulkyiness.
I tried the PA4X for 90 minutes last night. Felt lost going through it after Years using a Tyros 2 and PSR s970,,,
I could not figure out certain buttons like Sound / Styles ..but reading thru the manual I will work it out throughout today.
I need to get the EQ right for the Overall Sound as certain Instruments sound weak / Dull...but I had these troubles with the Tyros and PSR when then were used for the first time.
Any Help on EQ would be helpful...for Home Use only.
regards
Ronnie

I owned the Tyros 4, still own the S970. I got my PA 4X last summer and have been gigging with it since.
It has taken me some time to make the transition to the 4X, and I'm stilll learning...will be for some time to come.
Re EQ, the 4X has a powerful EQ system in its MAXX system, and it works very well. Takes some getting used to it though.
The 4X is a great instrument, once you start getting the hang of it.

Hi Ronnie
The (your) PA4X is a serious professional full-featured arranger.
It would be a little daunting coming form Tyros.
My advice is not to try everything at once and, dare I say it, work with the manual and the video manual.
Get familiar with the different "Korg" terminology.
Hmmmm - boring suggestion but seriously go for one "MODE" and just play with it - like STYLE PLAY MODE before getting into other modes.
Take it gently - you'll get with it in no time - conceptually, it is like any other arranger but this one is seriously brilliant - no, I'm not biased - just VERY happy with mine (having owned many Yamahas incl Tyros, Rolands and even Casio many decades ago!!).
With regard to you issues with sound/EQ I would be questioning your sound gear (no offence) as you said you experienced the same issues initially with your Tyros.
Have a play around with the PA4X's MAXX-Audio features too.
All the best

Pete...
Thanks again for your expertise in helping me out. The sound I play is thru the PSR 9000 keyboard amp & speakers.., like I use to play the Tyros 2 thru....
When I referred to sound not right in Tyros 2 & PSR s970 I was saying the eq on each board was not correct to my liking.
I have noticed a few comments on the Maxx Audio..that seems to be a serious piece of software.
When I get use to the PA4X perhaps I could be bold enough to ask for those Guitar Tones like Mr Marvins....
Take Care have a good weekend

I just spent about an hour on the PA 4X just playing for the fun of it...not practicing for a gig.
There are things I don't understand but I learn something new each day.
For example, the instrument buttons, lower right...next to the set button..
When I press an instrument, it comes up as a keyboard set rather than just that instrument...don't quite understand that.
I have the manual on my iPad, that helps a lot.

Guitpic, thanks again....like you I come from the PSR s970 keyboard which has totally a different approach in OS. etc...I find the PA4X a big challenge.the new wordings like keyboard set / hard to get use to
Last night I spent 2 hrs on the pa4x went into global Maxx Audio and did some changes from details found on forum here ,it did make for a better sound but still not what I wanted.its a start anyways.
Tried to go through listening to the SOUNDS only..but had a problem getting the Legacy / GM sounds to come up..I guess there must be a button to turn on or off somewhere could not see anything in manual regards the Legacy section, no doubt someone on forum will guide me.
Today's another testing Korg day.
Thanks

Thanks DonM
I found the way to listen to the factory/ legacy / GM sounds but to remember next time how to do it.
Have the PA4X only 24 hrs and know the are tons of things to understand on this Monster coming from Tyros and PSR it sure is hard.
Cannot get use to the drums sounds and guitar in backing tracks compared to Yamaha.

Welcome to a new world Ronnie.
I changed to a Korg Pa3x 4 years ago and I have had my 4x for 12 months,
never regret the change from Yamaha Tyros, amazed how much Korg revitalised my complete interest in playing.
Two Forum entries (as well as the Korg official videos) I have found
useful are the Unofficial Videos on page 1 and the entry Sept 7 Jono
now on page 4 which explains some of the mistery of EQ settings.
Enjoy the Pa4x its the best I have ever played.

Thanks ecca for your welcome, I could not find the above section you mentioned regarding eq'ing
I guess over time I too will praise the Korg PA4X, just like when I got the s970 I had troubles.
Song styles are very important to keep as I like to sound close to original, the midi to style converter is okay but I need to know the correct type of midi file to use on the converter.
Thanks again
