Teaching the technical side of a Korg PA4X

Post by chelsea4023 »

Hi,

I'm based in London in the U.K. and I am looking for somebody to teach me the technical side of a Korg PA4X. I'm not a great player, but do not need help with that.
What I need is somebody who can teach (1 to 1) how to get the best out of the keyboard's features. Sequencer, general arranger features, how to use effects, modifying styles and sounds, etc.
I could travel, and assuming we can agree an hourly fee would be keen to find someone to help further my knowledge with the PA4X.

Please could other members refrain from posting links to videos, etc, as I have all those (and even a printed copy of the full manual).
I am actually looking for a 1 to 1 hands on teacher specifically for the PA4X.

Unfortunately, being the wrong side of 60 means that as much as I love technology, I struggle a little to learn it.

Hi Chris, this is where the YKK forum meetings came in for the Tyros, which I had a lot to do with, if you remember. Sadly I don't know of a similar thing for the PA4X, I have one and am just plodding along, I know the dealer I had it from gives very good support but don't know if I can mention them on here but I doubt you had yours from the same people with you living around London, but you might have from the Cavalcade meetings ?? All the Best. Bill

Hi Chris I'm about 3hrs away from you and have tight time constraints on me with work and a young family etc but if I was living around the corner I would pop in and help for free.... so not much help there am I, But maybe we can open this up a bit for you so how about some of the helpful PA4X owners out there with a little more time than myself could maybe help you with the use of Skype on a PC as a live video link or similar so you could still have a one to one which would increase the opportunity for some potential help.....hope this helps and not hinders you Chris all the best.

Hi Bill,

Yes, the meetings you had with Eileen and the others were a very good idea.

I bought my PA4X from Nigel and Steve at Keysounds and I do speak to them by phone regularly.
Unfortunately there does not seem to be anybody local to me (strange when I live in a City with a population of around nine million).

D575, thank you for your kind words. The Skype idea sounds very interesting.

I had hoped that Korg might have started some kind of courses for owners to sign up for. I know I would happily pay and drive up to Milton Keynes (Korg Headquarters) for the day for a PA4X learning course. Yamaha do a similar thing (around the Country) for their Tyros keyboards.

I live in SE London and would also appreciate the benefits a course or one to one tuition would offer. Am happy to travel for a course or the skype option is also a great idea.

Hi Chris, you have good suport from Nigel & Steve, they will always answer any questions you have. There was talk at one time a few years ago, when Paul Thirkettle was in the development department and came to the Seacroft events, of having a Korg weekend, similar to the Yamaha one but sadly it never came about, there was a lot of interest from the people in the Korg room so I think it would have been good. There doesn't seem as many people there the last time we were there. It's a bit like Organ & Keyboard shops you are lucky if there is one within 50 miles of you now where a good many years ago there were two or three in almost every town. The Organ & Keyboard Clubs are sadly going the same way, there are no younger people with the interest or the money like there were 30 years ago.
