Triton studio changing instrument assignments within track.

Changing track assignments,(instrument change, mix volume change) on the same track, same song, once something has been recorded.

It's sometimes impossible to change this in midsong. Sometimes it works in overdub mode while the sequencer is running- (record nothing in that track, just change from slap bass to acoustic bass, for example). Its even easier to change the data,(notes)-erase, move,etc., than to change the instrument that plays the notes.The assignment seems to stay put,even past the limited area I'm recording on. What's the secret? There is no reference to this in the manuals that I can find. Help!!

Sounds like inserting program changes within your tracks will accomplish what you are trying to do. If you are trying to do this live system exclusive messages via rppr will probably work.
