KORG PA4X not booting after OS Update.

Post by SamirRoashan »

Hello everyone! I hope this post finds you all well. I have a major issue with my brand new Korg PA-4X. It seems as though after I updated the arranger to its latest firmware, it now fails to boot-up and gets stuck at the boot screen. I have tried to re-install the O.S. to no avail. Not sure as to why this would be happening, but if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

did you try to re-install the new OS ?

Looks as if something has gone wrong there.

To ensure that your downloaded file is not corrupt download it again and then re-install it.

OS integrity is always being checked every time you load new os during update process.

I have tried re-installing the O.S. several times to no avail and made sure the O.S. update was fully completed before powering off the machine. Not sure what may have gone wrong.

This is something i have seen some times in pa4x..
I guess some variable doesn't get initialized..
It is not a hardware fault..!
Talk to the service center, they may be able to send you a reset pkg to fix it without sending it to them..!

Do you have too big a uSD installed. I'm just saying, I had the same kind of funny intermittent problems until I no longer could see my SD as a device. 32GB is the maximum size it seems.

I attempted to reach out to the service center, however, I assume due to the weekend the service centers are currently closed. I will attempt to reach out again on Monday.
Thank you!

I have not installed a microSD card in the machine yet, but plan to do so in the near future. Thank you for letting me know the maximum size of SD card the machine will allow.

Hi Samir

I am sure you've read this already but just in case PLEASE remember to completely disconnect the power to your PA4X BEFORE inserting/changing the microSD card.
This means pulling the power cable out of the wall.

Not following this may damage your PA4X permanently.

Cheers

Really? Guess i was lucky then..

In general Micro SD cards are hot plug.. meaning you can change them while power is on...

They are hot plug but the app on the 4x doesn't support hot plug so there is a chance that if you hot plug it ,it will not get initialized and in a rare occasion it may not be able to see the card again without a custom reset .
A hardware damaged can't be done as far as i know, only software..
