Can't boot after unsuccessful update

Post by ibuben »

Hi everyone! My friend brought to me korg pa4x. He was tried to update the OS . Power has gone during this operation and now it does not booting at all. When i try to power on it displays KORG's first splash and string "system update", then the string is gone and splash just freezing. I has tried to insert usb with new OS, hold INTRO 1 and press POWER button, as written in update manual, but it has not displays calibration screen. Probably bootloader is corrupted? In our country have not KORG's service centre. So, maybe someone know how to fix it?

As the power failed during the installation I would expect that you have no choice except get a service centre to repair it.

Kong may be able to offer an alternative but you need to contact them - maybe through the retailer.

It should be under warranty - contact your retailer.

Try INTRO 1 again , overriding Calibrarion and choose Format option.
If it doesn't respont at all then BIOS is corrupted and you need technical support !
Official service center might manage to recover flash Rom via service menu , if not they will replace
motherboard as almost nobody except KorgPa can flash bios system !!!
Try to use your warranty but don't mention anything about net power failure !

Good luck , and never try again critical system update without a UPS connected !

You can't trust the grid in California. I have mine on a UPS all the time.

I don't see the calibralion screen. It's just stucking before this step. Warranty is voided, because previous owner has disassembled it. :( So, there is only available to repair it by myself. Ok. I will try to contact with korg's support.
