Auto Next Not Working? Or am I Missing Something?

Having an issue though and not sure if it's me learning the ropes or if the "auto next" sampling type isn't working. All the other sampling types work fine, including key gate which seems related. However I've watched numerous instructional videos on this feature and the resulting sample is just like the "one shot" and not a mapped out spread of the samples. Any guidance, thoughts?
