Envelop Sweep Rate

Post by my2sons8791 »

Before I ask my question, please indulge my weakness in the area of programming on the MS2000. I have a preset sound that has a sweeping motion and I need to increase the speed at which the sound "moves" or sweeps. Can someone give me some pointers on where to start? Thanks

Hi,

Is it a standard patch? Please post then the location here.

Else try the frequency of the LFOs.
It could als be the attack/decay of one of the envelopes.

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to replicate the opening sound in the Cars "Moving in Stereo".

The sound that I have found that is closet is Bank G3 Sweep Pad but not quite right. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I loaded the patch in my mKXL. (Korg provides the factory MS2K patches also in mKXL format).

To bring it closer to the YouTube video, I played with EG1 (filter): tweak the attack time and release time so that the tempo comes closer the one of the song. Set the decay time almost to 0. I also added 2 extra virtual patches with EG1 as source and the pitch as destination. This controls the frequency deviation of the sweep (use the intensity of the virtual patch, I used 2 patches to go high enough in frequency). Finally I increased the cutoff of both filters. Hit now a key at a regular tempo (you can use the arpeggiator for that).

It is still not spot on, but better as the original starting patch. Note this tweaking is on the mKXL, but should be easily and almost one-to-one be portable to the MS2K.

Have fun.
