Dynamic drum track change with Karma sync

Post by pno15 »

Hello experts,

I try to synchronize the Karma with the drum track, in a lasting way, especially when I change the drum track pattern on the fly, most of the time it goes well but there is always a moment where we end up not ending up not synchro .

For exepmle every 4 beats I run a sysex to change pattern, most of the time this pattern begins well as expected in the next measure, but from time to time it shifts.

Has anyone ever done this kind of manipulation successfully?

Is there a way to force a resynchro (cc or sysex or other ...)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Greetings,
Hi, did you send your real time drum track change sysex in Kronos sequencer mode?

In external PC sequenser - if midi synced.. you just move your sysex bit - to right sync place ( in Reaper this is simple)

I'm just sending this :

sendSysExMsg(midi,midiID,[0xf0,0x42,0x30,0x68,0x6e,0x01,0,0x00,1,0x0,0,val2,val1,0xf7]);

:?

It works but the sync can be altered from time to time

Maybe you: midi-sync your Pc with Kronos and then create midi-sysex track in Pc sequencer (Reaper or Live) and in right places this track send sysex messages to Kronos...(pre programmed (or send just short midi files with sysex but midi synced..

Yes thank you so much for the reply, but in fact I want to do it on the fly without an external sequencer, midi is sync with my soft because I receive clock info from the Kronos, but it works 9 times out of 10, tanks anyway for your response.

I would guess that it may relate to the timing of when you send the message. Are you sending it ahead of the time you want the drum track to change? If it were too close to the downbeat of the change it might cause this to occur, although I'm just guessing.
