I was hoping ' entry level ' could also suggest 'easy to use '
Actually compared to kronos its so easy to use..
The interface is so intuitive..
If you understand synthesis..
Its easy to use...
interface intuitive
easy to use.
ok. that sounds promising
Have you owned Yamaha gear before ?
Yes DX7, EX5, Motif, several Tyros models and more..
Compared to Motif the MODX interface is a huge step forward..
The AWM2 part is straight forward..
And the FM part compared to DX7 and MOD7 finally gives me the feeling that i am in controll and no longer randomly trying things..

Another strong positive for MODX- one can develop sounds , have more practical sound programming on the instrument itself.
In the past these ' engines ' have lacked development tools. Cos like Korg and Yamaha ( in the past) could have provided development tools to make better use of sound creation. I am thinking of MOSS and some of the engines in Kronos as examples, where development tools are much needed.
and yes I have owned both the Korg M3, Korg Kronos, actually I have always been a korg guy since Korg N364 but I really really like MoDX6 considering an excellent price, and yes I had Motif XF before, I think there is no comparison to Motif series, MoDX is definitely a winner...
Hahaha Loving my MODX6 shhhhhh sorry Korg.. lol My Kronos is still a great part of my music. I've been doing something interesting. I've been feeding Karma into my Modx6 its been really interesting how well these work together.

well, since Karma in the end generates nothing but Midi..
it ought to work well with any other keyboard or VST setup.
to bad Steven never got to addapting the Karma for Motif to montage and modx..

Yamaha probably has a stake in what can interface with Montage/MODX.
They would have to open the door, in a manner of speaking
The MODX6 is a nice sounding board "For the price" but it's not a Kronos. The Kronos seems more preset ready with multiple layers, karma, beats ect ect ect, aka noob home user friendly. As the Montage / MODX makes you work for it. Its taking me a very short time to understand the interface and realize how powerful this little cheap board can be. My only real complaint is the Keybed just isn't high quality. I can think back as this Keybed is inferior to every flagship board I've ever owned. But it's still better than the King Korg or Krome. At least the hinge depresses so you can push down the key at normal pianist form. Verses the Krome makes you play on the tips of the key because the full key doesn't depress.
Once hooked to my Kali 6 monitors it really opened my ears to how rich the sound is. There is so much going on in those motion sequences. I'm more impressed with each 5 sec boot. You know I catch myself playing it while my Kronos 2 minute boot time and then some how I forget to even touch the Kronos. Lol it's happened many times.
