Korg Minilogue not working with USB

I bought a Korg Minilogue used and I have been trying to figure out how to use it the past few days. Currently I have the synth plugged into my audio interface through a 1/4 inch cable and a usb into my MacBook. I can hear the synth through the headphones and everything is fine until I create an External Midi track on Logic Pro X. When I create the track, the Monologue stops working all together(can't play any waves or anything). I can use the USB connection as a controller just fine, but obviously I would like to use the synth to record track onto logic. Please help! Thanks

Have you successfully used any other synths or drum machines previously for this purpose? Without better explanation it sounds more like a question about Logic recording than Minilogue function?
