Half bar fill

Post by robthemuso »

Hi all. Suggestions please. When playing live in style play mode what do you find is the best way to play a 2/4 bar? Wish for a half bar fill!!

RESET button on half bar before fill in live is the only solution . There is not another one.... Or Start+STOP and manually do 2/4 break ....

I may misunderstand. But I interprete it as you play a song in 4/4, but then you want insert a bar in 2/4. If you/I want to prepare for it, you/I can certainly make one of the fills in 2/4, for a style that is 4/4. The Beatles got known for doing that now and then. Some of the Korg Beatles styles also had that.

I would just edit one of the fills and make permanent half bars for select styles.

Roland, for instance, can easily do this. Korg should offer this.

Programming specific custom styles is possible, where one fill is in 2/4 while the rest of the style is in 4/4. However, this requires the player to remember which it is, to prevent accidentally hitting the wrong one and messing up the song.

For me, since I only occasionally need it, I find it confusing to have to remember which style has the 2/4 fill and which of the fills it is etc. It also prevents me from spontaneously playing songs with such bars, if I haven't prepped a style specifically for them. As I said, Korg should implement this. It's an easy one to include.

Good luck with that wish.... I'm waiting 20 years and still nothing... Roland has this hardware button since early E series, ( made in 1990+ past century)

If it is 4/4, then create var1 ore break or whatever in 2/4.

I use half fill only in one song, so I edited style (you need 2-3 min) and it sounds perfect.
