Need help please - more RAM and upgrade operating system

Post by mrvegas »

My Kronos 73 is pretty old. It is running version 3.1.2.

I purchased 2 RAM sticks to upgrade it and I also want to update the operating system.

I found a post with details about how to open the Kronos and plug in the new RAM, but I'm not sure what the details are on updating the operating system after the new RAM is installed.

Please help!

p.s. should I upgrade to the latest software before or after I plug in the new RAM sticks?

don't worry. Get the RAM, install it properly.

3.1.2 is perfectly ok. The next upgrade is somewhat minor .

Hi mrvegas,

Yes proceed with hardware first, then restart to make sure all is fine. After that, you can verify if you have the most recent versions of the firmware and software. If you plan to someday install recent Korg libraries like the new Italian piano or Church organ then the 3.1.3 is required. Everything works perfectly on my unit and it is easy to do.

Dumb question, when I upgraded to 3.1.2 a few months ago, did that give me the latest voices and programs, or was it just the software running in the background?

Just the software. All samples/programs/combis/etc are edited separately.

What would I have to do to make it so my old Kronos would have most (if not all) of the same programs/combis as a brand new Kronos being sold today?

I purchased the Kronos Sound Pack with EXs17 Berlin Piano and EXs18.

What else would it take so the available sounds were the same?
