Gadget doesn't output midi clock??

Hi - I've just connected a Novation Launchkey mk3 midi keyboard to Gadget on my iPhone using a lightning to USB 3 Camera adapter. (my ipad is too old to power it and I get an error message )

It works great!
I liked how it could learn the play and record buttons so I can use the transport on the keyboard to start Gadget and of course I can trigger sounds fine.

But I'm pretty shocked that when Gadget is playing the arp on the midi keyboard is not in sync, even when Gadget is set to internal clock.

I moved it over to my Mac and tried it with Gadget for Mac and it's the same!!

This is really disappointing - it works fine with Ableton.

Am I missing some setting where I tell Gadget to output clock over USB?

I'm using the most up to date version of the original Gadget - 4.5.3 on IOS and 1.7.4 on Mac.
