Is OS version 3.1.0 Stable

Post by mintjamman »

For those who have updated to the latest OS and who have user samples, multiple Set Lists loaded how do you find stability ? Having read through the 3.1.0 threads there are a number of issues users have identified which while posted there are not any follow ups as to if they have solved these issues which is concerning, with no word from Korg have they abandoned any further updates to rectify any of the reported issues as if they have then updating to a OS which has issues is just going to cause frustration

Any comments welcome

I have all of that and have so far found OS 3.1.0 to be 100% stable.

Because we all have different resources loaded and perform many different functions it is always going to be impossible to know what is a bug/problem and what isn't.
I had a shutdown issue (only one) with OS 3.0.0 and it was due to a SET I downloaded from a forum member.

As long as one is mindful about the origin of samples, styles and MIDI files, I think many problems can be avoided.
There are of course a very small number of unfortunate owners who have hardware problems.

Hope this helps.

I've loaded and used all of that. Untill now i haven't experienced any unstability or whatsoever. I do use only 'original' PA4x created data and my own (legacy) PA80 soundsets. So OS 3.1? Recommended!

Do remember to create a Backup file AND a Save All file before updating.

I ve had quite many restarts with or without loading custom sets, even with factory only resources.

These restarts always had to do with songbook, and it looks like some task is trying to gain control, while something else has the control on that time, and this causes the restart.

On v3 restart problems were more often, while the same set was working fine with version 2.2. I did send to Korg video then with the way restart issue could be replicated.

I can not replicate it whenever i want on V3.1,but it always happens while editing songbook and setlists, that's only i can tell.

Some small freezes also might happen,or even freeze at all when using songbook's search function.

NOTE: these happened with an initialized songbook, and factory resources ONLY,so i can tell 1000% it's not a bad user set problem, but an Os bug or bugs. Language bug?songbook bug? processor's fault ? who knows....but it's there

Recently quite many people faced the same problem, who asked me directly.
Forum here has many users, but not all of them read or write or even follow the forum,so your answers should be somewhere out there, not only here.

Ive report to Paolo about this,a long time ago, still no answer, not even sure if he has read them after version 3.1 came out.

Happy new year guys,take care!!!!!

I did have some problems with the PA4X restarting, always related to Songbook operations.
Very incidentally, and I can't figure out exactly when/what goes wrong.

Fransman ,
i believe there are two tasks trying to get control of something at the same time, causing the restart, can't explain it either.

Yes and Yes.

Create a Backup file

Create a Save All file

The Save All file is vital and once you have updated the OS you will Restore the User Settings using the Save All.

If you fail to create a Save All before you update the OS you will permanently loose all your custom user data.

All the instructions are located on a pdf within the extracted OS files

Don't forget to UNprotect the Factory Protect option before you do the Save All procedure. That is only applicable when you save things in the Factory slots (which I do regularly)

V3.01 Stability.

Post by ecca »

No problems at all.I fancy Pete is correct in advice on imported songs
or styles, worth knowing where they are from.
I have added many things in Songbook but they are my own making
and the same with Sets.

That's true,
but in our case here,we are talking about Factory Only resources.
Nothing imported, every songbook entry was created on pa4x from scratch using factory styles and sounds for the test purposes.

I have seen sets to work fine on pa800,fine on pa3,fine on pa4x v2.2,while they were not working right on V2.0 or previous.

I believe V3.1still has bugs that Korg won't even bother to fix before they move to their next flagship model, they will ignore them and us too

I, personally, would never say you were wrong.

The question was asked (OP) and it has received several genuine answers including yours.

I sincerely hope you get to the end of your PA4X problems

Take care
