Back to your Combi. See your Kit in midi channel 10.
Check.

For Channel 10, the drum kit is in Global Channel or Gch
Correct.

However, midi channel 1 has a piano pointed to 01G.
Correct.

Change this out of 01G. pick 2 or 3 or whatever.
I selected MIDI channel 2 - Done.

Make sure Karma light is off.
I don't understand this instruction. As this forum does not allow me to post the screen I just photographed, I will attempt to describe what I think you mean...

The main COMBI screen displays a KARMA tab in the lower right-hand corner.

Pressing this tab brings up the screen I just photographed.

On the far left, about 1/4 of the way down, directly under the heading "GE Setup" there is a check-box labeled "Run". That box is currently checked.

Am I to un-check that box, or are you referring to a different KARMA control?

On the chassis. Left hand side. Under the main volume dial:

you will see the Karma logo. Next to that is an on/off button.

The idea here is to keep Karma off, as we are getting your Drum track/ Drum Pattern to work in your blank Combi.

You don't have to keep KARMA off. That would cancel your bass lines, rhythmic melodies, chord patterns etc. You can assign the drum track to play on only particular scenes, while KARMA drum patterns are off.

Now, if you are not prepared to dig into developing your own KARMA-fied combi, then, by all means, turn KARMA off.

its simply a precaution. In order to simply show how Drum track is set up and works.

Now go back to Global- press the MIDI tab. See Drum Track Midi setup section. What Program Midi Channel is selected?
I believe I overlooked this question earlier. The Drum Track MIDI Setup indicates MIDI channel 10.

Thank you for your input. At this stage of my Kronos journey I don't feel even remotely ready to begin unraveling the KARMA riddle. Indeed, getting a drum track to work within a COMBI will be a major victory.

Ten thousand thank-yous to GregC - the drum track within the stone-simple COMBI you suggested is working!!! Your help and patience were simply outstanding. Again, THANK YOU!

P.S. - And thanks to EJ2, too, for the KARMA suggestion!

I recently struggled with this. I had to crack open the Kronos Parameters Guide to find the section about Drum Tracks in Combination mode.

Once I learned that (for whatever reason) they put the Drum Track stuff on the "Vector/EQ" tab in Combi mode, all was well.
